So you think your resort is fucked up?

well get a load of whats going on at our resort.

some back ground information on what kind of sparked this whole thing: 2 or 3 weekends ago a good friend skied (well call him mo) out of bounds to a super sick area that we always poach. This time he crashed and ended up sustaining a compound fracture to his femur and almost bleeding to death. Thankfully patrol came to his rescue and saved his life. Now before you go and say "oh he doesn't know how to ski he's just a dumb gaper", that is totally wrong. This kid fucking rips, one of the best skiers on the mountain. So anyway, another one of our friends (well call him mike) is helping him to stay calm and not go into shock and all that good stuff. Ski patrol doesn't do anything to him at first because they are so focused on mo, but later he receives a 150 dollar citation and is then banned for the rest of the season.

Now here is where shit starts to get super bad. This kid steve knows of someone who is using a pass that does not belong to him. Since steve refuses to turn him in, he gets banned.

3 other kids were banned for ducking ropes IN bounds to get to an IN bounds run that was also open.

and the last person to get banned was banned for making a comment in our local newspaper blog about how Alyeska is poorly managed. Then the resort proceeded to emailed his sponsors to "draw attention to his misconduct," basically trying to convince the sponsors to drop him.

some how i did not get banned from Alyeska but now everyone that i ski with is not allowed to go back. fuck alyeska, it truely is a terribly managed resort and i know that i no longer support them in anyway whatsoever.

Wow Garrett. I'm bummed. That's some fucked up shit.

I was pissed as soon as Aly put those huge metal/computer gates in that have to scan your ticket. That's such bullshit, it just causes a HUGE back up of people/clusterfuck right after with terrible organization of people cutting others and shit.

I can't believe they'd ban some of the best up and comers in Alaska from Aly. That's retarded.

Let me know if you guys wanna hit Hatchers. Haha.
 
Hah I was reading some of those comments and it seems that even adults flame people online. Except instead of calling people "fags" they call them "immature"
 
yeah it was gnar, it was probably super hard to get him down as well cause he weighs like 220 or something like that
 
The best part is how they call him immature and a little kid, while they all seem to have forgotten that THEY were all little kids at one time as well. I'd be AMAZED if NONE of them did anything illegal when they were his age.

I bet half of them don't ski either.

Hypocrisy in this country amazes me.
 
I am confused, why / who mentioned another person usin a pass that wasn't theirs? Who wants to narc on who and why?

What does this have to do with your friend breaking his femur?
 
travis left ak but left his pass up here and someone was using it. i dont know exactly how it happened but eventually it lead to steve and so they asked him who was using it but he refused to tell.

and did you read it? that incident sparked the whole thing to begin with
 
My home resort banned 4 people for life, 3 of which I personally know, for skiing in an out of bounds area. They then proceeded to directly lie to the media (saying they were ill prepared, needed rescuing, and other shit, which was not true because they had full avy gear and knew the area extremely well and had seasonal knowledge of the area) and charge them for the search helicopter which was called to their aid and to 'rescue them' only to find the 4 skiers back in bounds already. It's a really long story but thats pretty much the jist of it.

Yours seams to be kinda fucked up though. Time to get out of Dodge, or take the place over (Out Cold styles?)
 
At my mtn my our former manager got fired/arrested for tampering with the eletric meter to lower the mtns bill. One of the shop guys ratted him out after he fired him.

btw. the former manager was a super cool dude and I'm sad hes gone.
 
these guys aren't park rats rowen, they are very good skiers. the same could have happened inbounds because alyeska has trees just as tight in bounds in plenty of area's. And ducking under a rope inbounds to inbounds is ridiculous, as is trying to contact sponsers to get him dropped. its all ridiculous.
 
i was waiting for someone to make a thread on this in here. its so unbelievably outrageous. alyeska has so much potential, gah..its frustrating...
 
no one was out of line or rude as far as i know. management is just rediculously overreacting. they seem to have forgotten that skiing isnt just for rich vacationers and weekend warriors.
