So WME isn’t filming ANYTHING this year

Just saw off of Mike Douglas’s instagram. Guess they’re only using old footage and other people’s B footage (not a big change there at all)

how do we all feel about a WME movie which is only 63 minutes of Henrik barking and yelling ‘yezzir’?

they've always used b-roll from film companies, at least back in the day they did with Poor Boyz, Rage Films, etc.

oh for sure, it's just a bit of a change for them to fully commit to ONLY using b-roll

yes but it sounds like this decision was made by the parent company outside Inc.

not sure why that matters, WME is a dogshit company

yes but at least they actually made movies that got people hyped on skiing, as opposed to just axing the entire movie

So that completely negates they're a shitty company that sued L1P for using warren's VO in refresh? Maybe you're just ignorant, but WME sucks and they haven't made an influential movie in 20 years.

I'm not ignorant of that situation, but it's kind of a legacy thing that there won't be any Warren Miller movie at all. It's like it was always there. Maybe you're right that something not great deserves to die, but still, kind of makes me sad to see something that's been around for so long go due to some company saying, eh, no money for you.

agreed- it's just a bad sign of the times when the biggest, most commercial, sell out film company can't get sponsor funding to film.

skiing is a pretty fucking niche thing, it's just gonna be a smaller pot of sponsor dollars to spend this season and the next while id imagine

fair enough, but IMO WME was made for jerrys, not me and you. We might have watched when we were young, but MSP and TGR premieres were much more influential on me as a 13-18 year old.

this is more than fair. I honestly can say I never really watched a Warren Miller movie since I only got serious into skiing when I was about 19, but Warren Miller as a guy seems way cool, and deserves a long lasting legacy.

Yeah i try to seperate WME and Warren the man, 'cause Warren Miller is a legend.

I think it's unfortunately more a sign of the times- a lot of companies have re-tooled to be more jerry friendly/ target a broader audience and market. there will still be ski media produced, just its gonna be smaller and smaller scale stuff. But, to be fair, that's where a lot of the media consumption is- tiktok skiing and instagram and whatnot. We aren't gonna see Helly Hansen sponsoring Teddy Bear Crisis 2. They'd rather spend their money on some insta-thot with 200k followers. it seems like when i was younger, every july-august we'd get swamped with ski movie trailers from a thousand different production companies- plehouse, sherpas cinema, PBP, rage, nimbus, Level 1, meatheads, chainsaw, MSP, Inspired, all the rastafaride movies, etc

it was a fucking dope time, we'd all get pumped on figuring out which VHS or DVDs to be ordering the next season.

I'm an older fart now. I may just be out of the loop.

All the weird ski industry nerds circle jerking each other over this online. Lot of comments from those minions about "legacy" and heritage"... What fucking legacy and heritage? Suing other ski movie production companies when they feature the founder of your company? Licensing and repurposing other companies' shitty footage? WME can kick rocks. It is hilarious how all these ski industry beaters are finding out when Outside Inc just runs train on their jobs lmao.

WME already lost and disconnected from all their roots so honestly I don’t care. They can burn. When they sued level 1 that was enough. Their founder literally did it willingly and WME knew that yet proceeded to fuck over L1.

refresh is one of my favorite ski films of all time hands down, really is about the love

Watching any WME movie after refresh is disrespectful to Warren Miller imo. Dude chose to pass his legacy/influence onto a younger generation via Refresh instead of the company that he created and no longer wanted to be involved with.

Yeah, but I think it's kind of fucked to think of WME as in any way honoring his legacy. I mean, sure it's called "Warren miller". That company can get fucked though.

Fuck that company and every $ they made after what they did to Warren. They should have eaten shit then. I get the idea of having a ski movie, but it sure as fuck shouldn't be a wme movie. Those things were basically shitty commercials involving skiing anyway.

Just a garbage cash grab using the name of Warren Miller. Idk, I can't understand how you see this as a bad thing. "Something not great" does not describe wme. Complete scumbags and producers of dogshit "ski" films.

So you've never even watched any of the classic Warren Miller movies? What the hell are you even arguing then?

Fuck WME, not sure what you're arguing, but maybe actually go watch some old school ski movies. Their are some for free, or at least used to be on some of those streaming apps. Maybe Crackle or popcornflix or something.
