So who is Simon going to? any predictions?

im thinking scott, coreupt, or nordica

all three companies have good teams but nobody really at his level in pipe.

some thoughts on why he is leaving, or left:

best run of his life ended with a bad crash due to equipment failure (obviously upsetting and stressful)

slumdog illionaire scene where his pro model ski had completely seperated

when his promodel added edge armour and a wood core, he used the older version with the new topsheet (he knew what actually worked but the company didnt want to produce it)
 
Wow I would have never guessed they would drop perhaps the most famous skier especially with olympics coming up. I could see him starting his own pipe ski company or having empire make skis( Simon owns empire right?). Or going on Scott because they have no pipe skiers and with simon and Tom they would have the 2 most famous skiers currently
 
That's cause they put so much pressure to wear their outerwear and now use their goggles.

I talked to Jamie pier and said he was mutually dropped because he didn't wear their outerwear. I would not be suprised if the same happened to dumont.
 
I think he'll end up at Scott....Armada isnt main stream enough for him and his poster boy image ....my point will be proven if he signs with Rossi haha
 
well seeing as tanner pretty much created armada, I'm gonna go with yes, Tanner is still on his own team.
 
I'm still very unsure about the validity of this...

...but if it is true since he's already sponsored by Target maybe he'll sign with Home Depot and start making his own skis.
 
yea I was reading a forum about all these guys getting dropped by salomon the other day. But the forum didnt say anything bout simon, and simon is still on there.
 
Well yea all their atletes realized there is better skis out ther and same with companies that won't fuck u over and don't have complete shit for skis.
 
yes i guess they wanted dumont to wear the new goggles but he wanted to wear his oakley's probably?

and the outerwear he probably wanted to wear the oakley outerwear over salomons
 
This thread is still all whispers and rumours. Is there any textual proof from salomon or simon saying hes gone? Otherwise this is just an epic troll. Might aswell say hes grown another testicle and got shorter by a foot. Also i heard he was going to start skiing for the guy who was claiming about getting a free ski press
 
Its legit, the details are secret but I would't be surprised if he asked for a ridiculous amount of money with the Olympic team announcement and Salomon wouldn't pay it.
 
Pretty sure that Evan Raps didnt have anything to do with Armada, although he is a very close friend with Tanner. You might be thinking of JF Cusson or Boyd Easley.

On an other note, my buddy sold a bag of tweed to Evan and Tanner back at the first X-Games at Mt Snow/claim
 
I'm not sure if I really believe what has been said in this thread... Besides the fact that no-one has provided any tiny bit of evidence, I don't see a reason why Salomon would drop Simon Dumont. Dumont is one of the most successful freestyle skiers of all time and is argueably the most famous freestyle skier today - I say that outside of our Newschool community. Many of my friends, for example, who do not freestyle ski, have only heard of Simon Dumont (or maybe Tanner Hall) because of his record 1/4 pipe feat at Sunday River, or because of his achievements.

Salomon is an extremely well-established player in the ski market - in the freestyle, racing and all mountain scene. I see no reason why they would drop him, ESPECIALLY after they make a pro-pipe model with his name on. Even if Dumont did ask for more money, Salomon would probably give it to him because he makes them cash-$$$. Besides, with the olympics coming up they would be stupid to drop a possibly-podium athlete.

Also, someone better get us some details on this Dumont news. No proof yet. But, if he's making moves, I think it would be with EMPIRE. They are trying to expand right now. So I would be least surprised to hear he's dropped Salomon to develop his own skis with the company he founded.
 
If this was actually happening I could see Dumont going to nordica for boots, and scott for skis, or maybe K2 for a pro model pipe ski, as I am sure that K2 wants a skier in the olympics, especially one as well known as dumont
 
i've heard rumors from many people they were not renewing his contract since before the winter x games in january...

this is actually the tip of the iceberg for salomon in the way of changes - LOTS of people are being let go or had their retainers slashed for next year

Someone at Amer Sports finally took a look at salomon's bottom line and cut their budgets, reduced the # of models, etc. They're also going direct with e-commerce sales, which is pretty much going to destroy any relationships they've built with specialty retailers

I'm not sure what to believe... but here are my thoughts:

I'm surprised Salomon dropped him, being that he is almost certainly going to the 2014 Olympics.

Rossignol won't pick him up, they're going through some rough times financially AND they're French.

K2 doesn't have any huge names in comps anymore (PK's been hurt a while). They may not be my first pick but I wouldn't be surprised.

Coreupt couldn't keep TJ or Colby, they definitely can't afford Simon.

Scott could really use another pro besides Tom.

Nordica seems to be grabbing everyone they can as of late.

If Head is smart, they'll pick him up; they really need it.
 
i'd lawl if he went with nithward haha never gonna happen. It'll be someone big rossignal or atomic or nordica. i cant see him signing with a purely twin tip company

I see him in scott, or maybe lauch Empire Attire Skis
 
I agree with all of this but Head is building up an am team. Lots of young kids are sponsored by them now just wait they're going to blow up pretty soon
 
with pipe at the 2014 olympics I would have to think he is going to be asking for big time money for whoever sponsors him. If Scott got him that would be a huge addition to their team. I don't think he would be a good fit at Armada. Nordica is a definite possibility if they have the money - him and Pete seem to be pretty tight so I could see that happening.

Has anything official been released about this?

Nordica, I 100% agree with you, they are stackign their team. Best team in skiing as of this moment. Would not surprise me at all.

Head has always been that 1 pro company. I don't think they would push Jon out of the spotlight, but who knows.

Dynastar/ Rossi is lacking in the freestyle department. I have heard alot about financial issues, but who knows if that is true. I could see Dumont on Rossi real easily.

Fischer, currently no-one big on the team.

Elan, no one big on their team either. They also have tons of money seeing as they are the largest ski manufacturer.

Atomic, they have a pretty good team right now, not sure if they would pick up the Dumont though....

Volkl's team is thinning out, it's a possibility but he doesn't fit the mold.

I don't think he would go to any of the smaller / freestyle only brands (Line, Armada, ON3P, Surface, etc.)

 
this, could really actually c this one being feasible for sure for simon, kid needs to stick with a big establised company
 
Atomic and Salomon are the same company so it wouldn't make any sense.

He's going to go to Elan. They got the cash and probably want to have an olympic skier in the freestyle scene representing them.

If he goes to Scott they are going to have to develop a pipe ski fast for him because I don't think Simon will ride Punisher jibs in the pipe.

Who knows though this is probably just a big troll because Simon hasn't posted about it and either has Salomon, nothing on ESPN either.
 
I wish someone who knew some real details would post in this.. that being said I guess that he'll go to scott haha
