So what is your take on this one?

I am spending my season in Livingo, this place is the bomb, the jumps are out of control, massive. However they make you rock a lid in the park, no exceptions, everyone has to strap up before they slap it up. I would like to roll out in my sun glasses and beanie, the lid kinda spoils my steez, what's your take on this??

I'm not 100% sure but I bet the hills insurance rates would go up if you did not wear a helmet in the park. Bottom line helmets save lives, wear 'em unless you fancy brain damage.

it should be up to the rider really, as long as they sign a diisclaimer to get the mountain out of liability issues

no, imo helmets should be mandatory. they save lives. Sure rocking a beenie can be steezy but you should worry less about your looks and more about your saftey.

i dont think the beanie is the shit anymore, helets are not hated on at all, u should rock one and it wont effect ur steez, but save ur life!

yea i could see why that might bother you, escpecially when it gets hotter. but you shouldnt complain about wearing a helmet because everyone should wear one

I understand the insurance thing, but i think if you are 18 or older you should have the option. although i never ski without a helmet and would never suggest anyone ski without one, i still think the option should be there

I somewhat agree with you for the most part. But i couldn't even imagine myself not wearing a helmet so I don't really have any helpful answers.

i think everyone under the age of 18 should have to, because, lets face it, we teenagers are dumb asses and dont have the best judgement. adults maybe have the option because some people dont like how helmets feel or whatever, and if you are mature enough to recognize the risk and decide that you would rather wear a hat, then that is your decision.

fuck, i forgot to slap my helmet on while replying to this thread and felt my IQ drop 25%.
IMO helmets should not be mandatory. it is the riders choice whether to rock a dome piece or not. Hell, if im dropping 70 + dollars on a lift ticket i better damn well be able to ski naked while waving a dead bald eagle above my head if i feel like it. if im wearing a helmet, that is.

Is smacking your head off the ground ruining your steez when you fall too? Helmets keep good ski days, good ski days. No one likes good days that are ruined because someone gets hurt by an accident that could have been prevented.

Is it just in the park that you have to wear a helmet? I like to just rock a helmet outside the park sometimes and when hitting mellow stuff, I think you should have an option whether or not to wear one. I could see how they can legally make you wear one though.

today my friend hit his head really hard and got a concussion and im convinced that the helment saved his life or kept from major damage

honestly, i'm shocked.
europe usually doesn't have restrictions like that.
I think you should be allowed to do whatever you want. Wearing a helmet is obviously the smarter option, but if you don't want to wear one, that is your prerogative.
personally, i go both ways. spent almost all of last season cruisin without a helmet. have definately worn it more, and got a concussion with one on this season, so i've become more inclined to keep the dome protected.

I personally think that helmets can look much cooler than wearing a beanie. I wear a black Poc Receptor bug with murdered out crowbars and a black balaclava and it doesn't look too bad.

this.

they may be uncomfortable and bulky, but its worth it next time you slip out on a rail and smack the back of your head on the rail. if it doesn't suit your "steeze", then so be it, but I'll keep my brain bucket on

I don't think wearing a beanie while riding park looks steezy... you just look stupid. Too many serious head injuries these days.

However, I think people should have a choice. If they don't want to wear a helmet clearly they're not using their noggin in the first place, so it's probably expendable. (Obviously I don't literally mean that.)

That was harsh, but it's something I feel very strongly about. Think about the people who care about you... not how fucking "cool" you look.

That pretty much spot on. Plus if there is massive jumps like you say, wearing a beanie and sunnies might not work too well.

helmets should be mandatory on the whole mountain regardless of age or where you are.

first of all the save live that should be enough of a reson and second of all the insurance rates for the mountain would probably drop meaning the resort would be making more money which they can put to improving the mountain

After 10 solid weeks in Tremblant where they have this I now wear a helmet 9 times out of 10. It's good to get into the habit.

That did sound as I thought as a "look at me I wear cool stuff" kind of thing, but that's not how it was intended to be read. Also, I don't think that "steeze is entirely dependent on what your head looks like(?) I was just saying that helmets don't always have to look awkward and you can make it so that your helmet doen't "spoil your steeze" as much, and it will look fine how it is.

just get a steezy helmet hahaha but seriously they may look dumb but they could save your life so its worth looking dumb for cause u cant look steazy if ur dead

Make it to your own style man, proper sticker job and some dope sagged goggles and your helmet can look steezy as fuck.

and if your one of the older kids in the park, whether you know it or not the little groms see you and look up to you, if they see someone making a helmet look fresh theyll wanna do it too, so your protecting yourself, setting a good example, and looking dope at the same time

lemme see a link. as far as im concerned their instigators to put people in highly-dangerous situations.

anyone who doesn't wear a helmet is an idiot. straight up. especially if you are skiing park. too easy to fall and whack yourself, even on something small

even if you're not in the park, or if you are "too good" to fall, there are too many idiots out there that shoot down runs out of control. you never know, it may not even be your fault that you are injured. there's always the risk that someone might coming railing into you when you're not expecting it.

Shealy et al's 2008 publication concludes that “the salutary effect [of helmet usage] was limited to the less serious head injuries, such as scalp lacerations and mild concussions. No significant effect was noted for the more serious head injuries such as concussions more severe than mild, closed head injury, skull fracture and death due to head injury.”

throw a few dope die cuts/ stickers and it will look way cooler than a hat. and i dont like concussions, got one from football and another from skateboarding without a helmet and now i wear one all the time

this. you know skiing/snowboarding has pushed the fashion/looks aspect of the sport too far when people are more concerned about their looks than their safety, i understand if you dont want to wear it outside of the park when youre lapping/relaxing on some groomers, but there is no reason not to wear one in the park when you are sliding across solid metal objects and throwing down off jumps.
