So what is the smog like?

Some years it's bad, some years it doesn't happen at all. It's really not a big deal. pretty gross sometimes - and this season it's set up bad, last year was pretty bad too. But there's been a couple years here that I don't remember it getting smoggy at all. People whine about it all the time but really, like eheath said, the times when people think it's the worst is usually because of fog as well, not just pollution.

Accounts of people complaining about being trapped in dense fog for weeks on end has been recorded since people settled here. It's just the nature of the valley we live in, it gets foggy and with the development those same environmental factors make it smoggy.

It's undeniable that sometimes it's gross, but it's only in the city... and moving to SLC for the sake of a cool city to live in is like moving to the east coast because you really like big mountains and skiing pow.

i work in west valley and its icky alot of the times i can't see the mountains from my windows. and it smells

Its pretty much as bad as the pictures look, but its not always like that. But when it is its kind of like being by a car when it accelerates and all the smog goes in your face. but its always there. Right now its especially bad since we havent had a storm in like 2 weeks and forecast isnt really calling for much. And the inversions suck because everything melts on the mountains.

Shits terrible and can kill you if your in it for too long. I've got prolly another 3 to 5 years before I croak.

mmm i dont know man its pretty bad and unless something is done, its only going to get worse and worse as the population continues to grow. I guess you could try it for a year and decide for yourself, but once you get in the mountains its fine, the other option of course is moving to PC. or you could join the church and relax knowing its all part of Gods divine plan.
