So NS I've been thinking and recently came up with a rediculous thought..

I'm pretty sure there are more options that a life of slavery or AIDS and rape in Africa. Why can't there be best of both worlds? i.e. African housing projects in America where they are free from the diseases and have a chance to work and mak a living
 
Dude, Slavery is over. The children of slaves who have been broughten here by us many years ago now live GOOD lives compared to most Africans. If we didnt bring them they wouldnt have came. Yes, I said African culture is shit. Their culture and stupidity is why they are so far behind. They all cant unite under anything, they all believe in different things which is why they are war torn. Their culture is waging wars and genocide in present day, while slavery is overwith and in its place givin millions of african americans great lives.
 
You cant rank which country has the best cultures, but I can tell you right now that African culture is savagry. There is little control in that entire continent, where a girl being raped and killed in our culture is tragic yet in theirs its extremely common. Where in our culture women can chose who they have sex with yet in Africa they cant, and cant force them to wear condoms (even though the AIDs epidemic is immense there). Where women with AIDs can only feed their babies by breat-milk which is POISON because it then gives their babies AIDs. Look at Darfur, is that the kind of culture youd look forward to calling home? I know NA culture isnt the best but for god sake atleast our lives and freedoms are protected. Africans cant even help themselves.

the problems in africa have to be sorted our by thier government, which currently arnt doing a thing, the money sent there by charities is taken by the corrupt governments so that they can live in comfort. They pretty much need a new government
 
Revolutionizing an entire continent will take hundreds of years, and tons of lives. Anyway, who is supposed to help? The US? Look at Iraq, look at the shit we got for going into Iraq and putting in a democracy.
 
Ok. I want to start off by saying that I've been in Africa for the past 2 months and now I have 1 more left traveling in South Africa. It is truly amazing how ignorant every one is about what goes down here and I just want to point out an example. In South Africa as you have so kindly pointed out, it is much more "civilized" or whatever the fuck that means, because nothing here has been uncivilized except for the Masai village I've been to and even many Masai are going to school more, anyways it is fucked up down here. It seems like everything is real sweet and everyone seems generally sincere and nice, so you would expect that the true Africans (the black people living here) have somewhat of decent living conditions and they get along in life well. WRONG! Every night they go home to these sections of the of the city where it is complete shit, they are living in tin shacks that are prolly 15' by 15' with their 6 person family. And where there are thousands of these families only hundreds of white people would fit if they built houses there. It's utterly disgusting how big the class gap is, and so no, I can not see how imperialism has helped at all.

I don't really have an opinion on the original topic, but this ignorant statement was what set me off.
 
yeah, next time a black complains about his present condition or about his ancestors just remind him that he could be in Africa right now suffering from the aids virus and scattering from rebels.
 
The thread creator is lucky that black people do not like the cold weather, therefore they dont ski which means that the black population on NS is very small

White people have fucked over everyone in Africa in many ways for hundreds of years.

When white people went to Africa for slaves they pitted tribes against each other on purpose, his is where the extreme tribal warfare came from, white imperialism.

Obviously some aspects of their culture are not ideal but you can not call an entire continent full of people idiots.

And the notion that we saved African by bringing them over is bullshit.

Africa is suffering and continues to suffer because of white people.

Alright, I'm a realist here.

I can only believe that if Africa was more civilized than other nations as much as we were over Africa, we would switch roles. Everybody took advantage of them because they could, during this time morals didnt mean shit so you have to think about that. The only thing that matterd was power, which Africans didnt have. Africans had no unity, they couldnt stop it because they were so far behind civilization (in the large scale). Sure they had villages of people but NOTHING compared to other countrys.

Saying we had tribes pit eachother against one another is stupid argument for the fact that to this day there is no unity. Elections are rigged, genocide is prevelant, and disease is spreading. Not because white people put the disease there, but they have no unified fight against it, no awareness. People there still believe raping a virgin will cure AIDs. I'll get some facts later when im home

The US, has rape, aids, poor people, crime and other diseases. Americans enter countries for no reason, kill people, and tell the world they have succeeded...doesnt that sound like genocide?

Basicaly, all of the things you have pointed out happens in every country. So, take your nazi ideologies and stuff them up your ass and never put your input again.

 
All I'm going to say is that sometimes they don't have a choice.. but yes they are still getting 'paid'.

I'm pretty sure Africa would be much better off if Europeans/Americans had just left the country alone in the first place instead of blatantly exploiting it's natural and human resources and trying to change it from mainly subsistence living to a money economy. If Africa had just been left to develop on its own, it would be much better off now.
 
Of course every country does it, BUT the fact lies in the U.S. has soooooooo much less of all those things its not even funny. And by the way, "Americans enter countries for no reason, kill people, and tell the world they have succeeded" is #1. wrong and #2. wouldn't constitute as genocide. AND #3 We don't intentionally kill innocent civilians. In Africa, they are FIGHTING the civilians, and in places such as Iraq civilian casualties are usually from each side bombing eachother. We don't walk into town and start blowing everybodys heads off. We can save that for another debate..

Might I add that this thought is in no way a nazi ideology.
 
All I am saying is this. Sure, Africans were slaves and its terrible that it happend. But for the 35 million blacks living in America today, its very good. AIDs is spreading, and you say it has no real disabilitating affects until the HIV turns to AIDs, but many of these people dont go to doctors, dont have anti-AID medicines, they're all not like Magic Johnson who has put off AIDs for decades. Also, understand THIS, there is NO CURE for AIDs and its spreading very quickly. 30 million people have it now, I cant quite tell you how many people have died from it since it was found in the 70's but it has spread like wildfire, and will continue to spread. Mothers have to breast-feed their babies, and if they have AIDs it will be directly affect the child with AIDs. Now children with HIV rarely live passed the age of 10. Not to mention the fact that people with AIDs probably DONT KNOW they have AIDs and it will take a hell of alot of work for Africa to figure out who has and doesnt have AIDs when in the US 1/4 people dont know they have it either. I understand it spreads here in the US but in Africa its MUCH quicker considering 30x the people have it. Im not trying to justify the use of slavery im just pointing out an interesting side effect that most of our black population wouldnt exist here today if we had not went through slavery.

Wow, 1/4 people who are poor are Blacks!? Well they have these great programs OUR GOVERNMENT PROVIDES such as Welfare, Medicare, etc. etc. so people can atleast LIVE DECENTLY and not have to worry about what theyre going to eat the next day, and they can cloth their children and if god forbid their child gets sick, THEY CAN GO TO THE DOCTOR! I know it costs money but in Africa its not even an option what happends if their child gets seriously ill and they cant pay for it?

Just wrap your little head around the fact that in Darfur, were innocent people are being murdered over 400,000 people ARE DEAD and 2 MILLION are displaced, in DARFUR! That isn't a statistic for Africa, but for just 1 COUNTRY! Oh wait guys this is in the Northern, "CIVILIZED" part of Africa, sounds like a swell place.

Now for the love of god im not trying to justify people using others as slaves im just pointing out the fact that Slavery has immigrated generations of Blacks in America who will benefit from their ancestors being slaves.

 
Im talking on large scale here where people are ordered to kill civilians. Obviously the rarity and sickness of the American soldiers who did this is enough to put it on THE NEWS.

Yes, 2 million displaced, 400k killed in Darfur, WHICH IS A SINGLE COUNTRY IN AFRICA! Now I know many dont have this problem, but in Darfur alone these numbers have accumulated over several years! 12 million slaves were displaced sure sure, but im not saying in this thread whatsoever that they came over and fucking enjoyed life working their asses off for no pay, IM SAYING THAT THEIR CHILDRENS CHILDREN HAVE (HINT: THE BLACKS SINCE THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAIMATION WAS SIGNED). Imagine how racist the US would still be if the population of blacks in this country was 1%~, imagine how racism would be in any country. Our "feeling out stage" of racism is coming to an end and now acceptance has begun on large scale.

In my last post I told you that yes black people havent had rights but no matter what at one time or another it HAD to be dealt with, and it is and it is over now. Prejuduce isnt bad at all today, and even still atleast the children were gaurenteed an education. Those Africa doesnt have healthcare like other countrys, so anything done is most likely from the help of the U.N. or volunteers. And you are an idiot for saying benefit is a synonym for good. By saying good I mean morally good, I can BENEFIT myself by robbing an old lady but that is in no means saying its GOOD.

you're talking about african americans as though they're not even americans...like they're implants and should be lucky that they're able to live in america, instead of their "homeland" or whatever. you can't play out history like that.

i guess i'm confused. whats your post trying to say? slavery benefitted african americans because now they can (are able to...not an inherent right...) live in america semi-peacefully now as opposed to having aids in africa? so yes...you're saying that slavery was good for african americans. that slavery was WORTH IT because NOW african americans live well. but you can't justify all of that by saying its all good now (even though its not...).

Here is a question i would like to pose to any young Black African Americans on NS. Would you rather have the life you have skiing it up, poor, rich, happy, sad, however your life is? Or would you rather be running for your life with hiv in your blood in Rwanda ....

Be thankfull for what you have. And you have it most likely because your great great ..... grandparents were brought to America. HORRIBLE FOR THEM. Not so bad for you. I know its kinda selfish but its true.

Lol alright, I'm gonna make it nice and simple for you to understand. Benefit does equal good, but not in the sense you're thinking. You said that "if you say it benefitted black people today, slavery must have been good", but youre wrong. Benefit = Good yes, It BENEFITTED Black people today, in a sense it was GOOD for black people today, but its not a 2 way street. Just because something benefits somebody, doesnt mean it benefits both partys involved. Ive used this example already: if I steal money from an old lady it BENEFITS me but it isnt necassarly GOOD for her to have her money stolen. End of argument.
 
Im not justifying slavery you dimwit, ive said this before if you take your head out of your ass and read. It was bad then, but it still benefitted black people today living in America. People in Africa cant just move to the US because they want to, its expensive, and starting a new life in a country where chances are they cant understand the language is a very big task which is why there isnt many immigrants from Africa. Slavery is a situation with the good and the bad
 
you must live in a box. There is still plenty of prejudice today, your only saying this because you live in a mostly white northern/western state. go down south and tell me prejudice doesnt exist. You are right about benefit and good not being synonyms but thats because ones an adjective and one is a verb/noun. otherwise they are very closely related. Finally you know nothing about africa
 
we dont have shit going on today like we did 50 years ago, we dont have Emmit Till cases and black people forced to sit in the back of the bus.
