yep, i bought 2008/2009 armada ar6s. pretty positive that i need to return them to evogear.com because i bought 166s which are too big because they come over my head, and at 110 pounds they are just going to be way to stiff of a ski, going from what the majority of ar6 owners ive talked to. so im looking for something around a 160. i ski 50% park 50% hardpack cruising. i want a soft ski that i can butter easily for my height and weight but also something that i can go out of the park on hardpack and hit up the grommers with some of my non park friends. also, its my first year in the park although im an advanced skier.

so im looking in to the 09/10 k2 disorderly, armada thall, line invader/ anthem, liberty LTEs, and at the moment i forget the others..

go ahead, call me a pussy, go tell me to man up, tell me what you want, but i will only hear out the people that are actually trying to help..if you think i should keep the skis, please go ahead and say it, just give some reasoning, and yes, i know that i have already made a thread for thinking i purchused the wrong ski, but i want to make sure i make the right move..please no flaming, ive been on here nonstop trying to make a decision as well as talking to backcountry.com people. thanks

bro if ur a good enough skiier bigger skis should not be that big of a deal i bought 177 line afterbangs instead of 166's and i usually ride a 163 in park and i can do everything of my 177 afterbangs that i could on my shorter skis plus theres added stability but i guess it really depends on ur riding stlye but if u want a softer skis i would deffinetly go with anthems

i think you should keep them, they are by no means a stiff ski and are pretty easy to butter around. I got 166s last year and I was about 5'8 120(on a good day) and I found them to be pretty short and pretty soft. They are such a sick ski I would keep em, the bigger size will feel weird at first but you will find them much more stable and much better for you as your skills improve

just my two cents, good luck with whatever you decide

haha, no trust...
Honestly I don't know why I should bother with this one. BUT, out of those the ones I would trust most are THalls, LTEs and Anthems. I know people say they love their invaders and disorderlys, but invaders seem too skinny and noodley and disorderlys aren't that great in my opinion. I'm looking to get a soft Jib ski to compliment my dogmas and I'm looking at THalls, Alpha 2s, and Anthems so that tells you which ones are going to be the most high quality and soft - and remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, a ski that retails brand new at $200ish really isn't going to last very long and isn't going to be high quality. I've never paid less than $300 for park skis (at those were on sale in the off season) - and as of right now someone is still riding them.

dude, skis are supposed to be over your head
i'm guessing at 110 lbs you're still growing...i hope, sounds like you made up your mind but i'd probably recommend keeping the ar6's, they're pretty soft, i guess stiff for a park ski but they have a very easy flex on them

also the ar6 is a sick ski so if you could find it a bit shorter then i totally recommend it. I think the lowest is like 166 or something

sorry guys, hockey game

.....Im 5 foot 5.....

and yes still growing, im 15, but on freeskier they rated them really low for playfulness..like a 7.8 or something. i just want to make sure i can have a good time on them, the majority though is saying i wont

the majority in this thread and the last thread you made says you will, but if you want a noodle that basically is a center mount only/park only ski then get invaders. If you want a fun ski that can go anywhere the go with anthems. If you want a poppy ski go with LTEs. IF you want a ski that can do ALL of the above - stick with the AR6s!

haha, im really sorry man, i know im killing you and you've been such a great help and contributor. thank you very much for your input, although it may not seem like i take it in to consideration, i do greatly!

and i bought these of evo-gear, so i could return them and make an exchange for the 2008/2009 phil larose..or wait for the 2009/2010 LTE and pay a little extra. the other skis in my consideration are anthem, LTE, thall, stick with my ar6s, and possibly disorderlys..but thats the last one on the list..

not trying to hate on freeskier but i don't trust anything they say

i own the exact skis you have and they are really playful, maybe not compared to some noodle but they are not a stiff ski at all

i mean maybe i don't fondle too many park skis, but ar6's are quite soft and super super poppy, i can't see having a bad time on them

...the live chat? that's worse than freeskier if you want info on how a ski performs.

You will be fine. When I was 150lbs I skied 194s flatt tailed w/o rocker mounted at like -10 for all mountain/powder and I could 3 them in park. 166s should be ideal for you, and for cruising groomers the longer the better.

to you fisher shucks balls

i think if you want a new ski go with the line masterminds those skis are practically designed with youre needs in mind great turn radius and stiff enough so if you really are an advanced skier you sould have plenty of fun on the groomers with those but honestly keep youre ar6s if you center mount them it wont really matter that they are a bit big feeling now trust me if you mount them true center they will not look big at all plus ar6s kick ass

i was planning on returning them.

and dank, last thread i had on this you said i defintaly made the wrong decision and that i should go for some lines.

also, if i keep them, i will mount -1.5

wait what how the hell do 166 are over your head if you are 5'5", 166 cm = 5'4" don't be a pussy and keep your skis.

there, a little blurry, but it gets the job done

dude, those look PERFECT for you, odds are you going to grow an inch between now and the end of the season anyways so if you go to short then you'll be really unhappy.

not going to happen. i will mount 1.5 most likely.

if i return, i will be going with thalls to make buttering easily and there will still be minimal chatter, of LTE..

if i can butter these skis very easily and jib around all the little jumps on the side of groomers just dicking around with my friends, and being very easy to progress with rails, them, by all means ill keep them. i just think the flex pattern of the thalls would work better for my needs

i do understand im being very ignorant and im sorry for that cause im never like that, but its not the ski that im worried about cause i know thats what they are made for, but with my weight is what im concerned about. im just so small and skinny that i have a feeling that they will ski much stiffer for someone my weight vs. someone that skis them with a normal weight

Firstly, AR6 is not a stiff ski. Secondly, you will regret buying skis which are a bit too short more than a bit too long. You will either grow a bit, or your skiing will get stronger either way its better to go on the long side. That being said, i wouldn't call those too long for you by any means.

Dude you'll be fine, just one thing next time you buy skis support your local core shop then you can see the height and find skis that will be perfect for you and you will support your local skiing scene.

Keep!

Im superstoked on my AR6.

Soft and allover a nice ski if you like to play around with butters and things.

Its awesome to butter with. Never had a problem hittin bigger jumps either so im really satisfied with my AR6s. On the other hand I got the 176cm and im about 6.1"/186cm (yeah, 181cm would have been perfect, I really edont know what I was thinkin) and weights around 160pounds/74kg. I cant really figure out how ppl says its stiff, maybe im just fat? Its so playful and soft.

I recommend them anyways.

The Thalls sucks imo if you compare to AR6.

Definitely keep them dude. They aren't even that big for you. The ar6 is also a soft ski, not even close to being stiff. Even for your weight, you will be able to handle them. Trust me, after 3 runs on them, you will be used to them and ski them with no problem.

**********************

im more worried about my weight to flex and how easy it will be to learn how to butter and be fun and playful. thanks for all the responses

Keep em, mount true center (easier to butter/press + ski shorter) and ski em hard for the first week and they will break in and thus soften nicely :D

Are you serious? If you are 5'5", 166 would be the perfect size for you, and the picture you posted seem to confirm that. And you need to stop worrying about everything. The AR6 is a really sick ski, just stop thinking about everything that might be wrong with them, and go ski. When my JJ's got mismounted, I was so worried that it would suck, and I spent alot of time measuring and being all worked up about it, and considered remounting them. But then came the snow, and I could finally ski them, and they were amazing. You just need to ski the AR6's, instead of sitting in your room worrying.

I'd say you haven't made a dumb decision, but that you certainly will if you return the AR6's.

Only return those skis if you want to create a massive waste of time and effort. They are your size, and they are extremely versatile. It's not like buying a car, much more simple. If you know this little about skis you probably aren't good enough to notice the difference anyway.
