and we were thinking of ways to bum for a season somewhere special in the middle of nowhere and just sled skii. We thought of the best accomodation, vehicle, or trailer, would be to buy an old school bus. after the bus has been cleaned, we would chop off the back 10 feet of it. With the back 10 feet gone, we could put a deck on the back to park the sleds on. The inside of the bus could be rearranged and decorated to fit our life style, like, couches, and shit.

So?
 
that be pretty sick, but youd wana put up some insulation on the bus, cause theyres no way youd stay warm in the winter with those metal walls. how would you close off the back though for the sleds?

You cut the cab off 10 feet from the back, so the floor would still remain.

Cut off the back little bit like the tail gate and re weld it on.

Oh of course insulation.

and we would paint the bus cool obviously.
 
You should probably check out Cooke City if you haven't already. It'd be hard to find somewhere with better access to huge mountains and lots of snow. They get hot foreign exchange students working there in the summer, too.
 
well thats sick then. specially with the sled spot on the back. just an in the moment thought. make a flat spot on top of bus with like wood or sumthing and then have it hook up with a drop in ramp so you could do urban any were and have a easy get away bus.

This was my idea first off, since I am your room mate and all. Yes you are all correct we should do this. And we wont get arrested because this is Canada and we can do whatever we want, including parking down abandoned forest service roads during winter months where you may not see anyone for months at a time.
 
because autos have to be approved by the dot before you can put them on the road. im sure your school bus turned part r/v part flatbed isn't legal, and on top of that you probably dont have cdl licenses, which you need for that shit...sorry to rain on your parade, but you'd have to figure that shit out first, and cdl licenses alone cost a grand or so per year to maintain, on top of the costs of classes
 
you cant simply cut the back of the bus and weld it together again. you'll break the thing in half, its like trying to cut the roof off a car. i don't think it would be financially viable unless you guys have a fair amount of money... mayb a ramp that folds down off the back and just rip out seats in the back for space to keep the sleds?

alot of people in the town I live in now don't insure their vehicles. Some don't even have driver's licenses.

It's how shit works. I wouldn't expect you to understand new york.

was it as simple as cutting the bus? or did they strengthen the chasis in anyway or do anything else? cause you do that to a car and it will snap under pressure
 
They cut everything behind the last emergency door off and just put caps on the frame portions they cut through. What they did was cut off everything from just below the windows up and from just behind the last emergency door back.
 
Coming from an avid sled rider you're going to be better off with it being enclosed, If you can possibly fit two sleds side by side in the back even if you have to stagger the skis you would be better off. Less road slush, sand, and salt covering your sleds, and less chance of them being stolen or fucked with. That being said the bus being cut up would add to the epicness. and you can extend the deck past the width of the bus.

btw. you need a special license (In NY at least) to drive a school bus regardless of its contents.

IMO a blacked out bus with sharks teeth on the front (ww2 airplane/ K2 style) and a chimney sticking out the top = awsomeness

And if you think your not getting at least a misdemeanor for something your delusional

Regardless of the whole newschool neon revolution this bus needs to be punk'ed out

 
well it sounds like a sick idea. just hope it works out for you guys or who ever is doing it,

me and my friend have talked about doing this aswell, travelling north america in a short school bus withthe seats gutted and beds placed in back. hitting as many hills, rail jams and girls as we can.
 
You can get away with alot in the great white north. Alot more than our counterpart down south anyways. A short bus with a trailer is another option but it is not nearly as cool.
 
Mitch, you should still live in Abby. Cause my dad has a shop with a welder, grinders, and everything you could possibly need to do what you want to do.
