would be awesome to watch a 15 second video without a 16 second advertisement before it...every, single, time...just like the old days!

not even youtube does that.
 
Ya that's very true but at least the ads on NS are skiing related like Will Wesson eats pasta or Andy Parry getting hit by a doughnut
 
Ads are good for you. They increase consumerism which is healthy for the sport.

Seriously though, we do realize we went a bit heavy on the ads this season. It all ends soon and next go around we'll have a way better balance.

Sorry... you really can blame me.

We do appreciate it if you just sit through them though. Its good for the sport, and we share the revenue with video producers so you're actually helping give back by watching ads.
 
Can we at least cut out the pop up ads in the bottom right with auto play?

I was reading a thread then some lady started yelling at me about some product.
 
Can you screenshot that for us next time you see it?

It's more than likely just malware, but we'll look into it regardless!
 
It was. I saw it on another website and that got me suspicious. Also showed the highlighted texts for specific words like you see sometimes on a news article, but in threads in NS.

Pretty sure its gone but if it pops up I will cap it for ya.
 
Wow that did not work for whatever reason. I was gonna say no ads for videos under a minute or something.
 
Most of the ads are very entertaining so I don't bother watching them, but the Völkl/Marker ones just do not appeal to me at all, bring back the K2 ones!
 
Are you using google chrome? If so, right click the top of the screen and click task manager. If you see all these pointless extensions, then this is the advertising you are experiencing.

To remove:

Go into settings for google chrome (top right)

Click extensions

Delete the extensions

Seriously though, Moose is right. We're backing off... thanks so much to all of you for putting up with this. I know we went a bit far this year, and we're adjusting to get things more dialed for the future.
 
I don't mind the ads that much. I don't like pre-roll ads, but I understand they're purpose. The only thing I don't like is that now that I've white-listed NS on my Adblock and there's a pre-roll on all embedded videos sometimes I get 2 ads on one video if it's a youtube video (one from NS and then one from Youtube)...that is annoying.
 
Well first off, we REALLY appreciate your tolerance for this. Honestly we do - its people like you that make this site work.

The YouTube thing is a necessary evil. We want to embrace video from everywhere... but we need to make sure we get something out of it too. I think once we really dial back on the insanity of ads, we'll find a balance that will work for everything.

Always a work in progress, and I don't pretend we're perfect for every decision we make. When we fuck something up - I feel really bad. It is not lost on me however that you guys stick with us and tolerate some of these things.

 
It would be easier to deal with if we had a skip button after 5 seconds for the longer ads. they do this on youtube.
