So it snowed this weekend and i went skiing...

no joke. it dumped a solid hanful of inches above 11,000 or so this weekend, so i went out hikin way up high, found myself a tiny cirque (300-400 vert ft) with a combo of old snow + new on top and had a powder day for like five hours....built a jump. it was sick. hows your precious east coast now whores

All you needed was the last sentence. I'd be bummed except it's only been almost two months since my season ended so I haven't been deprived too long.

the mtns above crested butte...to be more specific, on the ridge between cinnamon and treasure mountains...hiked directly up from paradise divide and got there fairly quickly. lots o fun!

There's a really nice place that has snow year-round right by where I live but it's six miles to the bottom of it, so I'm too lazy to go ski. I'm waiting for the snow that they're predicting for next weekend!

oh yeah, i could be skiing every day on a different snowfield above crested butte if i wanted to, but the key phrase there is "if i wanted to". like you say, it usually involves at least 6 or seven miles, and around here at least a solid 2500 vt ft hike to get to it. i was just up in CB for a wedding anyway, had all of my shit and the new snow just called to me. ullr was there; i had to answer the call!

You should be grateful. We've had a few days here in Bozeman where I could only see 2 miles because of all the smoke. Almost everything's closed because it's all burning.

um i found an ice rink that will be dumping snow every 45 minutes this weekend with public hill out back that they let us shred, and a 4 foot high 20 fot box, hooray for hockey tournaments and liberal universities.
