and I think I am going to do it on the history, present day, and the future of skiing. Anyone care to throw some usefull facts/figures or information my way I would be very happy.

dunno how the "speach" is supposed to be, but maybe tell about what skiing means to you, who are your rolemodels and why, what are your future plans/goals in skiing.....
telling about something you're familiar with and stoked about is gonna be easier then telling 10min. about the history of skiing ...

I once had to do a 30 minute speech on skiing, no notes, no pictures, nothing.

In Swedish. FML.

Still, got a 5/5, practice paid off. A 10 minute speech in your native language? Is this even thread-worthy?

tell that to josh dueck

I'm a little concerned for you if you are giving a "speach" tomorrow. Haha. ***kidding***.... But seriously... Spell better.

you know it's easiest to do a speech you know a lot about already...seeing as you are giving it tomorrow and you just as NSG...i don't see it going to well.

It's for my communications class, I'm swamped with case studies and another presentation all due tomorrow, I was just looking for some general information that I could ramble on for... thanks for the help guys...not

give reasons as to what skiing means to you and how it makes you feel and why it's such a major part of your life, find some history of your home mountain or the waaaaaayyyyy back history of where it might have originated. Talk about the alps and how it became so famous there.

talk about the beginning of freeskiing and it's impact on the snowsports industry, changes in fashion, different types of free skiing (i.e freeride backcountry stuff, park skiing, urban etc.) changes in ski design ( twin tips, fatter skis etc.)

mention influential skiers/ groups like tanner hall, shane mcconkney, the new canadian air force, frustrations from skiers due to restrictions placed on tricks by the FIS in freestyle comps. blah blah blah....

check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newschool_skiing for more info/ideas...
