So I dislocated my shoulder.

How long is the recovery time? I'll be doing PT eventually I'm sure. Anyone have any experiance with this that wants to tell me what's up?

It depends on how bad you fucked it up. My brother dislocated his shoulder a few years ago, popped it back in, and thought it was fine, but then it kept popping out more and more. Turns out he tore pretty much all the ligaments/tendons in his shoulder initially and had to end up getting surgery to repair everything and wear a sling for a couple months. Fun shit.

I've dislocated my shoulder several times. The first was football and I was out two days. The other times I was skiing or clbing and just popped it in and kept going.

this is litterally EXACTLY what happened to my friend. hes been dislocating his shoulder a couple times a season for 2 years and he finally got it checked out by the doctor and he had town AC ligament, bone fragments in his rotator cuff, fractured growth plate, and a bunch of other fucked up shit

Yeah, Once you dislocate it once, it will never have the same suction it once did, so chance of it dislocating again are much higher

Fucker.

I've been told to keep it in a sling for way too long I just want to say fuck this and go skiing.

I dislocated my shoulder playing lax, I was in a sling for 2 weeks, and out of sports for 6 weeks. I did light activity but probably shouldn't have. So basically 8 weeks. And the scale of dislocation is on a scale from one to 6. And i had a 3.

Listen to the doctor because he is right and you are wrong. I dislocated my ankle this summer and tore the ligaments in it and i couldn't skate for 2 months with PT 3 times a week. They know what you're doing suck it up and take the time off so you don't keep fucking it up.

Yeah trust me I've been on the injury boat more than a few times. I know how it works. I'm just super pissed.

It sucks. I did mine in the pipe a few years ago. it was pretty bad, doctor told me I couldn't do sports for 5 months. Did 3 days of PT and was racing 2 nights later. Still bothers me a lot to this day though. When I'm laying on my back in bed I can pull it in and out, it also makes a lot of noises and clicking when I move it. Definitely makes me think twice about doing pretty much anything where I could land on it

And sorry man I'm usually totally up for engaging your bitch fits but I'm just not up to it today.

My buddy has dislocated his shoulder like 25+ times in the last few years. Its just fucked up, the surgery hasnt done much. Hes gone to the hospital a few times to get it put back in, but now he just has somebody standing around do it. He says it hurts quite a bit, but now he just wears a vest-like sling when he skis. As far as recovery time for you: I would still go skiing, and just float around for fun, just stay out of the far. Some groomers dont hurt every once in a while. But im pretty sure the Doc will tell you to stay off the snow for 4-6 weeks

I had a 750 hp boat rip my shoulder out and it was about a year and a half before it was 100%. Honestly probably one of the worst injuries I've ever had. And the opiate addiction that came with it was pretty shitty, too.

This sucks. When I dislocated my shoulder I took a week then skid in a sling with a shit ton of Advil in my system.(don't do this) sorta regret skiing not recovered because on this one rail I sloped out or something and landed right on my shoulder. Shit sucked. But everyone that saw me fall on it gave me great healing vibes at the bottom on the lift.

Last year I broke off about 1/3 of my shoulder blade, and dislocated it at the same time. I had a sling and was thinking of skiing the next day. It depends how badly it was dislocated but if your not a total vagina, maybe like two weeks max.

I dislocated my right shoulder being a little retard trying to treflip or something two years ago, popped it back in myself. Been popping out every time I try throw a ball. Also i can't lift more than 80 pounds with that shoulder, so i look like a lopsided little shit when i flex. So yeah im probably like ar6's bro, probably screwed up my shoulder. Yolo. That's why we ski

my mom dislocated my shoulder when dropping me when i was lil and it took me 14 months2 rewcover haha....cuz i was madd tiny prolly tho.....

but 4real my boi was back playin baseball in 2 months

my friend sullenhammer dislocated his so many times last year he needed surgery, put him out for the rest of the season, really though he could have kept riding like a month after the surgery

Dislocated mine this summer playing rugby didn't even know what I did just went to throw the ball and it popped out. Was in a sling for a day, said fuck it and just KT taped it and started using it. Stiff for a few days but then I was alright. Was it a frontal dislocation? they are a lot more common and generally fix themselves easier. Try to see what muscle feels sore. There are four muscles in your rotator cuff which are the muscles that got stretched or are weak in your shoulder. Theres teres minor, supraspinatus. infraspinatus and subscapularis. Try some front raises with low weights at high reps. Strengthens the muscles nicely. (for those of you wondering. I'm taking a grade 12 Kin class that's really a first year university level course)

yup, disclocated mine 2 years ago. popped out, 6? times since. you, like me, will probably need surgey at some point. legaments get all streched out and shit.

Hopefully you aren't a big swimmer. That's a good way to have it pop out again. If you didn't tear anything the recovery time probably won't be too bad. At the same time you have a higher chance of having it pop out again on ya in the future.

Good luck. Fuck shoulders. Hopefully it isn't your fap arm. I had that happen last season. That awkward moment when you have to ask your friends for help.

Just take steroids... But on the real I dislocated mine skiing twice during the 2009 season and 10 more times doing random shit, I had surgery in June of '09 and didn't like the fact of pt or a sling my last summer before college so I didn't rehab and to this day I still can't throw a football or baseball worth a shit. Dislocated 4 times since surgery and is sore whenever the temps drop below 50. All shoulder injurys are different, some minor and some are major. I tore my labrum big time and chipped my socket, but take it from somebody who's been through it DO PT/REHAB THE RIGHT WAY. And I would probably go talk to an orthopedic surgeon if I were you

your fucked. in a years time it will pop out every day. when you wake up and stretch, when you open your car door, when your rolling down the windows on a jump. welcome to hell
