i want to move to whistler next year from van, but its gonna be 2010 and all so what do you think my chances are?

i figured il start looking in august and hope i find a place by the time skiing starts..

Not that I really know anything about acquiring housing, let alone in whistler.. but uhhh you should talk to Peter/Graeme because they had quite a bit of trouble finding one this year and I think they started in August. However... I believe Peter wants to only do one year? So maybe you can take his place or something? I dunno. Also, some people might NOT want to be in Whistler during 2010... not sure how people up there feel about it but it's likely gonna be bananas...? It should work out.

worst part is that im only gonna be 17 until the end of sept... il just send older friends who are gonna be my roomates to talk to the people and sign the stuff

Whistler is sweet and all but for 2010 I'd take my ass elsewhere.

Now I've never actually lived there but I know my family friends are renting their condo during the olympics for $30, 000. I doubt there will be much affordable rent.

But theres lots of other sweet place to live and ski. You could rip it up in utah, or move to alberta and actually be old enough to go out. I had good times living in Banff.

i have my heart set on whistler right now but il see how it all works out and i might have to head down to utah or colorado...

I'm grad '11 and I'm hoping that by the time I'm looking the prices will be down againor I'll spend a couple years in Uni then move outeither way, whether I travel the world before or sink in a hole my mind's set on living in whistler for my life

yeah, me and pete found a zone in alpine after like 4 months of non-stop looking. I suggest working during school this year, save up atleast 3k? and look for a place to move into during the shoulder season, liek sept. oct. nov. as for the olympics, if you find a place that lasts thru, SUBLET and make cash. or talk to the owner about not living their for olympic week so you wont be paying inflated rent all year just cause of one week.

k

wait until after the olympics. seriosuly

the housing crisis is INSANE. i mean, i know a girl who is paying $6000 for a three bedroom house. and i work at the info centre so i see all these people come and go without places to live. you start looking now or you wont find a place.

my advice, move up in April after telus. like, immediatly. april or may those are the best months to look.

but good luck,

i wouldnt even bother. go shred pow elsewhere in bc for the winter, then head to whis in the spring

dont get me wrong.. i love revelstoke but it would be about one hundreth as fun to live there than whistler.. just keep lookin and good luck.
