So for real, when did you learn that side jumping is lame?

I love those little jumps in the park. I hate how they put those stupid metal poles in the way though. They mess me up when I'm trying new tricks.

We need more full "Newschoolers.com" stickers to float around resorts so more people can tune in and realize how both stupid and awesome free skiing and its community is.

I thankfully was never one of those people. I learned on a mountain with no park. Stpped skiing for a while, started rollerblading thrn came back to skiing and knew exactly what the metal poles and boxes were for and hit them properly from day one of park.

Holy fucking shit deja vu! A noob told me that just last week. A little later, he forgot that the rail setup drops 2 feet. He flew over the setup and did not time his turn with the jump. He took off the lip lazy boy style cruising through the air until he exploded on landing. The yard sale was awesome; skis, poles, hat, and I am pretty sure I saw a glove. The guy just layed there, obviously trying to pass off an injurie to sooth his ego.

Well when i was like 3-7 i always skied with my dad so I did it a ton. After I started actually hitting the jumps though I stopped. So probably until I was 9 or so.

Clearly you guys have never gotten drunk while skiing...side jumps are the shit! A lot of them also have some sweet nintendo gaps.

i'm pretty sure they put railings after the jumps so when people are learning park they can hold on to them so they won't fall.

I'm not quite sure what OP is on about. Nothing beats hitting side jumps at mach chicken and flying 30 feet!

those are jumps? I thoughtt they were there to keep your drinks cold while you sat on the railing. man was I ever off

side jumping is never gonna go away. embracing it opens your eyes like a mystical journey through a suburban jungle..... standing on landings, while dangerous, does offer spectacular views. And let's not forget, swearing loudly infront of others when you suck at a trick. for some reason, after you're done looking like a shit head, you do indeed feel better.

Ikr, those things are really unsafe. That's why i ski at dear valley because they don't have any of those metal things or any of those hooligans who all have broken skis that are bent in the back.

I don't understand why it makes everyone so mad. How much is jumping off the side of the rail lip gonna mess the lip up? Might take an inch or two off at most. And that's only at the very edges of the lip, where unless you're doing some type of crazy lip 270 you don't even need it. But most of all, if you have skills you should be able to get on a rail with the most gnared lips available or no lip at all. In my mind it's more gaper to complain about a small detriment to the lip than it is to side jump it in the first place.

And besides, when you're almost too drunk to stand, side jumping is a far better option than the rail...so I'll be side jumping out there all day, feel free to come say hello.

I dont remember, quite a few years ago though. Every once and a while if the general park atmosphere is kinda stale and I'm drinking I will front flip/ninja butter off of them while mooning just because.

One time I saw this noob retard skiing on the metal thing whil me and my homeboys were chilling to hit the jump. we call him a gaper and he started crying what a fag!

I think it is more of a train of gapers side jumping through the park when you are trying to hit it issue. These people think they own the lips to rails and have no idea when to get out of the way and then get pissed at you if you try to tell them that they don't belong in the park or they are going to get hurt. Those gapers piss me off and I hope all of them eat shit into a rail while side jumping.

I have my own version of side jumping, hitting the feature straight on but gapping the entire rail or box and throwing a trick you would on a normal jump.

for example, a cork 7 over a flat box, or a 9 off the side of a down rail, like some sort of side jumping superhero.

I don't know where you're from, but typically on the EC, it takes more than an inch or two off.

i don't mind side jumping, as long as kids don't hit the lip at 5 miles an hour and then stand at the end of the rail

usually gapers aren't drunk and usually they cut in front of the feature to hit the side jump, fucking over anyone who is behind them trying to hit the actual feature... it's not hard to understand.

anyways i realized that you shouldn't do that when i realized that there are JUMPS in the park as well to hit....
