So driving is a privilege?

So I came back last night from spring break and my roommate, who had been here all break, tells me he got his license. He is from China and was very excited to be driving a car. He then told me he had never "turned an engine" before the test. When I asked him how driving had been going he says he is "fucking crazy" and that its really scary. He has already hit a parking meter and put a considerable dent in his car and bent the meter back a little. He has gotten a $100 ticket for reckless driving or something and I am completely terrified to be on the road with this kid. License test should be a lot stricter if this kid can never actually drive a car, pass the test, and still drive like a complete moron.

Reminds me of that episode from South Park when all the old people were driving into everything. Pretty funny episode. I agree with you, I would be scared to be on the road with him also. Theres nothing you can do though, he will get it taked away if he keeps hitting things.

you think texans are bad? ever seen an iowa driver? or a NJ driver? holy fuck. kill me. they're absolutely terrible. every single one of them. guaranteed.

Lol, no I have not seen them drive. I just always see Texas plates on thrucks and SUV's when it snows out, there always upside down in the ditch or something. They think cause they have 4x4 they will not slode or something, I dunno.

coming from another environment, i find it kinda crazy that every 16-yr-old is allowed to drive (big) cars, but you cant drink officially until youre 21 (i guess its like that in most states).

here in austria you are allowed to do both at 18. which is early enough for driving thing

driving tests are different in every state. my friends from jersey just had to drive around in a closed parking lot for 5 minutes, while i had to drive around portland for 15 minutes in traffic. in maine, they fail about 50% of people their first time.

I got hit by some dumb 17 year old bitch last week. I was in the left lane she put on her blinker and litterally turned right into the side of my car. i have a wrangler so she broke the plastic fender flare and then crushed the front quarter panel. she was crying "OMG its my first accident" I was like yeah me too and im fucking 26

Well, being Chinese, he is obviously going to be a terrible driver.

I agree the test should be harder though, I had no idea how to drive when I got my license.

the worst are asian drivers especially from new jerseyif you ever see an asian woman in a minivan with new jersey plates, get the fuck off the road

yeah dude for sure. this one girl at my school was like your such a frustrating driver you just stopped in the middle of the rode. and i was like, there was a red light. dumb bitch.

Nope not at all, if i have ever seen worse drivers associated with a state, its got to be Colorado. Iowa drivers arent even comparable.

time for an asian joke...

how do you blind an asian?

.

put a windshield in front of them.

.

and how about a sexist joke...

why couldnt hellen keller drive?

.

because she was a woman!

winner.
Apparently the concept of "lines" and waiting for your turn are literally foreign concepts to the Chinese (unsure as to whether this holds true in all asian cultures). I had always noticed that Chinese folk (non-american born) seemed "rude" or oblivious to cross walk signs, and lines of people. I recently learned from a Chinese friend that these concepts do not exist over there. Everything is survival of the fittest, squeaky wheel gets grease, etc. due to the huge population and crowding. I think this lack of awareness translates to poor driving.

what the fuck? colorado? i have never heard that before. the only states people say are bad at driving are mass (not true) and jersey.

It is a privilege. I only got my license a few months ago. America probably has too low of driving age but I enjoy the privilege of driving.

i started driving a couple months ago, and i have to say it wasnt as easy as i thought it would be. i think of myself as fairly level headed, and its kinda scary to think that some kids i know will be driving in a few years that i would never trust behind the wheel. shits kinda fun tho

i got my license 3 months ago and i didn't really have any problems, my driving teacher was really good tho and i feel like i'm a safe driver. i don't feel uncomfortable behind the wheel but i see a lot of people who suck at driving. the biggest thing i was taught was to take driving as seriously as you can, i think a lot of people suck because they don't make a big deal out of it and don't take it seriously. it pretty much requires 100% focus and accidents are caused by distractions and a lack of focus, for example texting, reaching for cd's, eating, anything that diverts your attention slows your response time and kills your focus. i think driving tests should be a lot stricter because there're plenty of people on the roads that don't belong there. i also think you should have to renew your license every like 15 years by taking another test. even if i'm a safe driver some retard can still plow into me and kill both of us

ehhhhhhhhh doubt it jk

theres a reason danika patrick is pretty much the only pro female driver out there...casue woman overall suck at driving i mean u prob are fine at driving but for example this one girl i drove with last week coudnt chanve lanes on teh highwya and didn't even no her right and lefts. its sad.

same with foreigners. they think they ahve the right to drive as slow as the fucken want god dam i hate foreigners so much. and the illegal ones fuck you over when they hit you and run away and you get fucked by insurance.

To the op, where do you live? Yeah China is pretty fucking crazy, it's definitely a cultural thing, when I was back there visiting relatives I definitely noticed that nobody obeyed traffic laws, j walking is pretty much the norm for pedestrians, because if you don't, you get left behind in the dust. I live in Alberta and we have a GDL system that take three years to get your full license, not gonna lie, a bit of a hassle but at least there aren't as many douchebags out on the road. Haha and yes im asian and i am a woman and no i don't drive like shit. Actually according to statistics men cause more collisions than women, fatal and non-fatal, which is why insurance for males under 25 sucks balls.

if an old asian woman from new jersey driving a mini van is found on the road, it's a mandatory evacuation in some states

Dude the fuckin greater Phoenix area, its the perfect storm of really old people drivin 10 below the limit and a bunch of crazy people drivin 20 above, that place is crazy to drive in. Was hilarious watchin my buddies freak out when I was drivin normal when it was raining though, traffic pretty much comes to a halt. Im from Seattle though so I pretty much drive in the rain 50% of the time.

have you ever seen a vermonter drive? they're really good, but drive really slow because they're always blunted

word. i went up to vermont a couple days ago and everyone on 91 was wicked slow, but when i got off 91, i was behind some guy in an outback who was cruising through this road with big hills and corners. you could tell that he knew how sharp every corner was and how long every straight away was.

you've got to start somewhere...

here the learners test is theory based on the road rules. once you pass that you can legally drive on the road, but you have to have an adult whos had their license for 4 years riding shotgun. stays like that for 6 months at which point you can get your restricted license which means you can drive on your own during the day, not at night. Then you get your full.

haha back in the day my dad was telling me you just had to go down to the post office and pay the fee to register as a driver

it ought to be in a driving lesson. when i took my learners test only 4 of the questions were actually about the rules of the road and how to drive a car. the rest were about whether or not my parents could withdraw their consent, what a cop is allowed to do if i'm pulled over, etc. safe to say there are plenty of kids out there who don't know how to drive, but they know how much trouble they can get in for driving badly.

personally I think they should give out learners permits at 13 or 14 in which you can only drive with an adult over 21 (your parents) and then have to pass a driving test

I live in NJ. I took a quarter year in class drivers ed course, did 6 hours in a car with a proffesional instructor/driving school. Then drove for a year with my parents in the front seat. And I got my license a few weeks ago.

I'm not a bad driver, but I feel like kids should have more practice before they are out on their own.

This one girl i know has gotten in like 6 or 7 accidents in like two months since she got her license. Its ridiculous.

But old people suck too, but kids are jsut careless

you guys havent seen bad drivers till youve seen brown people

I'm guessing in the states there arent very many brown people but here in ontario in the greater toronto area more than 50% of people living here werent born in canada. the place is covered with shit drivers.

and you gotta watch out for the three o's

olds orientals and ovaries
