Yeah it's a scam to get your account number and all your personal information. Letters like this come in a bunch of forms and in the end ask for all the same things. Do not give them your account information, because they will steal all you have. If you already gave out your personal information, then well you're going to get spammed like a mother fucker at the least severe.
 
or create a new bank account for the money to be put into.

that way they can't steal anything, becuase theres nothing to steal.

or contact the lottery board or something.

they can find out if its real.
 
I would go to the police with them and get them to tell you for sure. I mean if your really intent on getting 500,000 quid I'd do it quickly, and thats the best way to ensure your not being scammed
 
they could somehow use banking information and other personal information to apply for credit cards or other forms of credit in your name. Then, you're fucked
 
you know, technology has come a long way. but i had no idea humans could read things that dont exist.
