Snowflake: Tinder to skiers and snowboarder

It's a cool idea but is 35k really needed? And why does he need to go to Chile and Argentina just for a photoshoot? Sounds like a nice way to finance a trip for him and his buddies

''PHOTOSHOOT

I have allotted $3,000 of the entire goal for a photoshoot in the Southern Hemisphere as soon as my Kickstarter campaign is successful. Fortunately, I have several photographer friends that will go with me down to Chile or Argentina. As much as I love having my two best friends in my photo now, I know I will need high resolution photos for the billboard and lodge advertisements.''

Great idea but doesn't take even close to 35k for it all yo need is to put together tinder google maps and sprinkle in some facebook/instagram/social part for comunication. Fucking 35 thousand dollars lol that wont happen for a while. Have you trade marked this idea yet....

How is there $11,645 raised when I only count $1,645? Can creators just add 10 grand to make it seem like their product is successful?

What happened to just meeting people on the lift

Most of us dont even ski we just pretend we do to party, and with this its easier fake this through.

Fuck that, you can make apps for less than 1K easy.

'Yo we should make a massive trip down to South America!'

'We don't have any money.'

'I have an idea, don't worry.'

You aren't really going to get a quality app for under $1k.

$35,000 might be a bit steep, but it's not too crazy. Basically 6 months of salary for the average developer. He might be factoring in advertising as well which does cost a bit. If there's more than one developer the costs add up pretty quick. Also keep in mind that it might not cost $35k to *build* the app, but this will fund it for a while after launch as well, tweaking things and adding new features for however long until the project generates its own revenue.

Who needs an app for this, I just message 'oh hay there' to all the pink names on newschoolers.'

I'm so sick of these lame ass kickstarters

I cannot type, as soon as I made this thread I was cussing at my self for two typing errors in the title. I often wonder how I am able to email at work

Aaaaahahahahaha nice try, but no. You aren't going to out-tinder tinder but narrowing your search for vaj. This is a ploy to get this dude and his buddies some cash and a trip to SA. I mean come on.

Just making sure they were hookers and not actual guides

Business model is so full of holes.... Like really, 35k and you havent even fully developed it yet?? 3k on a trip youve seemingly planned out already and you havent even found a team to develop it for you?? And you're going public for help???? THIS IDEA IS UNDERCOOKED AS FUCK.

To me this sounds like somebody who understands business and marketing VERY well, but their ultimate downfall is when it comes to tech development he seems pretty stupid in all honesty...

Quote from Kickstarter page...

"My biggest obstacle could be not having the application ready by the launching date. I was initially going to hire a more cost effective application developer, but I am now committed to using a reputable company instead because the timeline is imperative, as is having the application configured for iOS and Android."

Plus, with how much money you're spending this early in the game, do you really feel like there is a market to even get this shit off the ground to make serious money down the road..? Idk, just seems really sketch to me.

What's the difference between this and just using tinder in a mountain town? Most people on tinder in mountain towns are skiers/boarders anyway.

Kickstarter has some cool projects but lately it seems as though it's open mic amateur hour for the inbreds who were passing out business cards two years ago a la "prestige worldwide" that they made up trying to impress people without actually doing anything.

If this makes it I will fucking quit my job and just start making Kickstarter campaigns that sound good on paper to horny randos.

I agree completely. They need to take trips to South America for a photo shoot? Waste of money at this stage in the process, in my opinion at least. I wonder what mountains they will use. Can't see them advertising at smaller ones. I don't think there's a market either to be honest

Well they are skier escorts. One of them used to be on the Czech ski team, so apparently they can actually ski pretty decently.

I mean at least that is what is advertised.

do any of you have a clue? 35k is nothing...... to get an app like this fully functional, with users I would imagine cost's to be in the 200k realm.

I think the main problem here is that it doesn't even seem like they have the app functional at all. like they haven't really started and they're already planning a trip to south america and large advertising deals with resorts.

My suggestion would be to make the app free, first. you might want to charge money for it if you were trying to filter out the less serious people, but the people who would be downloading this is already slim enough. second, offer a remove ads option for a price, but you can still have a "promotions" part of the app that can still bring customers to the shops that advertise. Third, forget South America, at least for now. theres no way $3000 could fund a trip for you and your friends of photographers along with cost to rent or own a high resolution camera for billboard shoots. maybe plan for the idea further down the road, but try to actually get the app going before you start thinking about that. The best way i would say to get the app going is to find a developer who also believes in the idea and offer them a percentage of equity in the company. This is all just how i would go if i were planning a startup, but there isnt going to be any trips to South America, thats for sure, theres going to be too much work for you to have time for that.

Final note: kickstarter is good for initial funding, but you should also seek out real investors. They're where you'll find the real funding. also, they'll (mostly) be professionals with a stake in the company, that now want it to succeed and will help you.

Good luck! it would be interesting to see how an app like this would do!
