Snowboarding reaching its peek?

It seems to me that i havent seen much progression from snowboaring over the past year or so. It seems that skiing is progressing wayyy faster. Is this just me being ignorant or what. What you think?

i could be that you (me to) dont follow snowboarding as much we follow skiing so we cant really notice any progression.

nah theyll keep progressing. i think snowboarding is gettin a lot more creative, follow me around for example. look at skatin itll keep happening with so much more talent

yet even following the progression threw x-games, it seems obvious(or at least to me) that skiing as far as difficulty of the tricks has progressed way faster

agreed..watch some independent boarding movies...they are fucking insane...you will see progression...they are doing double corks and shit

There is only but so much you can do with both your feet strapped to one really fat board. I never liked snowboarding. It's so annoying when they all sit down in groups right in the middle of a run. They have to unstrap and strap there boot everytime they get on and off the lift. They also have to do this everytime they get on a catwalk. Thats just to much work. Not to mention that a snowboarder will never be able to make short radius turns quickly like a skier can, which in turn limits the terrain.

Skiing or landing switch looks way cooler on skies. You can't even tell by looking at a snowboarder that they are even riding switch. Also, kids are starting to think twintips are cool. I help this by skiing switch as much as possible and the little kids on the mountain see this and want to try it.

SKIING IS MAKING A COMEBACK.. TWIPTIP STYLE!!

snowboarders whether we want to admit it or not still have so much more style and creativity than skiers, and dont get me started on rails....

but when skiing become the new thing in a couple years things will change...hopefully at least

You gotta respect snowboarders because they are out on the snow, doing what they love. Snowboarding has done a lot for skiing and without it would there even be a newschool movement? Skiing and snowboarding have both been very progressive in recent years, and even though I would say skiing has been more progressive in the last year I would say its a partnership and they will continue to take turns setting the progressive pace.

WOW dumbest thing i might have ever heard. You dont know anything. Honestly. Ill explain something just to prove your dumb. DID you know that on a snowboard its easiest to cork a frontside spin with a backflip style off axis? And when spinning backside its a frontflip style cork. So if you have trouble with backflips but you spin frontside then you can cork. If you spin backside but cant frontflip its way harder. SO thats something new you learned AND by the way i think skiing is progressing at the same rate as shredding.

I hope skiiing gets more media attention though because its dope. I just think skiiers are started to think down on shredders a bit and its anoying because were both doing what we want to do.

Yeah since EVERY double flip has been thought of and played out already, I saw groms in the park stickin Kangaroos like WHAT this year.

That was stupid.

Btw it's PEAK, not PEEK homie, you spell like a snowboarder.

i agree witht his bit, im afraid the relevance of your first part went straight over my head but i still respect boarders a hell of a lot, there just like us but face a different way down the hill, so what?we should be tryin to progress together not oustretch each other

somethings snowboarders will probably always have on us, nose slides and switch landings in pow will always be easier on a board for example so they can push it further, we how ever can get better grabs and go bigger, we progress in different areas

Snowboarding is still hot shit.

Whether snowboarding is peaking or not, we are still behind. While skiing has come a long way, we have a lot of catching up to do with overall style and URBAN skiing is just scratching the surface. I think urban skiing will progress in a very cool way.

Snowboarding's funds are always going up (which you can see in the mackdawg trailer) but the best way to see if snowboarding is slowing down is to look at the major tricks in the last couple of years.

Skiing 05-06

sw 1440

10s at the end of pipe runs

bio/cork 810s onto rails

sw cork 630 to rail

kangeroo flip

Skiing 06-07

sw dub cork 1440

12s in the middle of pipe runs

im sure candide was ripping up rails but i havent seen any footy

switch dubles

i dont watch snowboarding but thats probably the best way to see how skiing is progressing

you really couldnt be more wrong.

snowboarding has been progreesing insanely in the past year. i would keep going but im too lazy to type out tons of examples.

you also have to keep in mind that half the new trends in skiing come from the snowbaord scene(urban wallrides anyone?)

nah i disagree... the reason that skiing progressed so fast is because it was following in the footsteps of snowboarding. Now i am not saying that skiing has copied snowboarding in any way, I am just saying that twin tip skiing came around at a super good time as far as park riding is concerned. Skiing is definitely progressing fast, but i feel that snowboarding is progressing at a similar rate.

now they have thier stupid crip walks and jacksons and shit. lucas magoon kid is doing frontblunt 450 off down flat downs tell me thats easier than a kangaroo flip or switch triple back.

its hard for a skier to see snowboarding progression. Like I respect all snowboarders but I couldnt tell you all the differnt grabs like I know in skiing. And to me it seems like skiers have developed a little more in the air because of well its allot easier to do tricks standing straight compared to on one plank sideways. But atleast at my park it seems like snowboards can hit a whole other axis while going corked that most skiers cant do.

In terms of rails I think snnowboarding has taken huge leaps and bounds in the last years, and they are miles ahead of skiing in that area.

But I could be wrong, this is just what ive noticed

yea snowboarding is def progressing but skiing is exploding that and how much do you watch snowboaring now that your an avid skiier, the only reason i know is cuz most of my friends ride

i think snowboarders have almost reached their peak on jumps.. just like we have on rails (not really but compared to jumps).. but they are progressing hardcore on rails and doing new shit everyday.. also alot of creative shit.

what the hell does strapping in and unstrapping at lifts have to do with this thread and how is skiing backwards going to make little kids want to ski. also big tricks this year for snowboarders include double corks, double rodeos, and rice's double back flip to late 180.

no rollerblading got too popular too soon. skiing might be doing the same but it has a strong history in popular sports, so it has something to fall back on.

There is more to progression then the amount of spins, flips, and double grabs you can perform in a single jump.

agreed. we have a long way to go, especially on rails. what annoys me most, however, is that because of some sort on f-ed up prejudice against rollerblading, most skiers won't even try to do any grinds other than natty and unnatty. the shit charles gagnier is doing is the future, and without it, rails in freeskiing will become a spin to win contest. i'm not at all sure that this is in any way relavent, but i just had to get it out.

The general public will tell you over and over that skiers are more interesting to watch in the park.

snowboarders seem like they cant move around alot or do that many tricks..skiers have much more movement since our legs arent stuck together

although snowboarders have started doing one footers (see the new Mackdawg trailer) and you cant argue that snowboarding just has way more options on rails

^ ya for the most part, there are more options for snowboarders on rails, but we cant sin off as much as skiers and we cant pretz

no you cant pretzel or spin off as much, but your nose/tail presses etc generally look steezier

i really think on a personal level its easier to progress on a snowboard but i think that skiing is just more of a challenge to learn stuff and actually get good

i mean i spent a full week nonstop on my board and i had a blast. probly the 12 of my first 13 days were on my board because i was waiting for christmas when i would get some twins(i had to wait for them to come from a shop at another resort) but anyways before someone tell me how cool my story is i progressed alot in a few days. i learned how to make really good carves and shit and learned how to get alot of air, 180 and slide a box
