Snowboarding and Skiing- Is there a connection?

Alot of people think that without snowboarding the skiing revolution, progression or whatever the hell you want to call it, would never have happened. What do people think? Would skiing be where its at now without snowboarding?
 
of course it wouldnt. just as snowboarding wouldnt be anywhere without skateboarding. everything evolves from other things and....

this is where im gonna go ahead and let you search this topic. which is being discussed on the first page in more than one location
 
Without snowboarding skiing would not be at the level it is but its also true the other way around you need both skiing and snowboarding thithout 1 there would be little variaty
