Snowboarders

The freeski community gives a lot of hate to snowboarders, but like it or not, they are a big part of the development of freeskiing. There wouldn't be any parks if they didn't exist.

Yeah but they still annoy me. I was at big Boulder on Saturday, and most of them either snaked you, or crashed into you. They also got all pissy when you "cut off their line". I see this happening at other mountains too.

People don't hate them because they snowboard. They hate them because they have earned a bad reputation as douche bags that get in the way. I think when they were going through their gangster phase, all the thug and not caring stuff threw us off and made us kind of mad. I would say it's almost comparable to ski racers and park skiers now. In the end we all just love the snow and that's all that matters, but it can definitely be hard to see that sometimes.

I don't really have a problem with them, they're doing the same thing as us just on one plank. Besides, most snowboarders i've met were really cool

Yeah pretty much.

The only ones I don't like are the gapers (but skiers have those too). I'm terrified I'm going to run into one sitting in the middle of a run behind a roller/crest when I'm bombing at mach 10.

But I've met some damn cool boarders too that can shred.

I've had better experiences with snowboarders overall than I have had with skiers. They are usually more accepting of park skiers than older skiers.

The only thing I HATE ABOUT BORDERS IS GETTING OFF THE LIFT!!! THEY ALWAYS STICK THEIR BOARD ON MY TAILS SO I CAN'T MOVE WITHOUT FALLING DOWN. They usually fall down too but they chip my topsheet.

Reason's I don't like snowboarders:

1. getting off the lift is annoying af

2. "snowboard" outerwear pisses me off because it's ugly

3. they are worse than gapers because the bad ones think they are cool since they're snowboarding

4. waiting for them to tighten their bindings at the top of every lift

5. they sit down in the middle of goddam greens because they can't get momentum

6. not as cool as skiing

7. not as swaggy as skiing

8. not as stylish as skiing

Yeah, snowboarding for the most part can suck it... I just am not interested in any part of it. Yes, skiing owes some of its re-birth to snowboarding, but really, skiing has alway been where its at hah

It's really more about the individual rather than the group, I've met snowboarders that are super chill and nice, and some that annoyed the shit out of me, same with any group of people

Talking about snaking and then not paying attention when you're dropping into a feature midway through a line?

Idk, this is a park etiquette issue not really sure why you're throwing this on boarders.

Also most of the people that hate on either sport legitimately are retarded gapers.

YOLO

2. snowboard outerwear is what skiing outerwear will look like in two years, don't hate.

6.Maybe its not as cool to us skiers, but to the general population, snowboarding is much cooler than skiing.

8. snowboarders definitely have more style than skiers

i snowboarded before i skied so i love snowboarders i get a lot of influence in my riding from them if you dont like snowboarders youre probably just ignorant

Whether it's a skier or a snowboarder, it all depends on the person. From my experience the people that have skills either boarding or skiing have a mutual respect for one another. The snowboarders that i run into that give me problems are usually the ones that don't know what they're doing, or some kids that think they own the mountain because they are a snowboarders, even though they lack the skill to. A lot of my friends are snowboarders and I enjoy going to the mountain with them. And to be honest they are way better than my friends who are skiers, so I spend most of my time with them. We all have a good respect for anyone that has skills whether they're a boarder or skier. I've seen them ooh and aah over lines and jumps skiers have hit, and I've seen them yell at snowboarders sitting in the middle of a run too. I even saw one of my friends chase down a punk boarder and almost deck the guy in the lift line for cutting him off, so it happens to everyone. Like I said, it's all about the person rather than what they're riding.
