Snowboard Edits \rant

As a snowboarder I am pretty disappointed in the lack of quality snowboard edits. I mean there is definitely a place for hesh/ shitty, shaky, 480p videos, but its 2013 its not that hard to buy some HD camera and a fucking glidecam. Here is where you skiers come in, especially you filmers, basically why you no film snowboarders? There are so many season edits of skiers which have good skiing and solid production value. Other than Yawgoons I have barely made it through an entire snowboard edit this summer. Is it that skiers are predisposed to have more money for better equipment? Is it that snowboarders try to be more core by having "raw" edits? Thoughts...

your post is sort of the reason why people make standard def videos. people lose track of the fact that what matters is the documentation of the stuff going on in the video, not the number of pixels output by the camera that films it. a good, creative filmer and editor can do some very cool things and make amazing videos in standard definition with pretty simple equipment. yes, it does look more raw. yes, that is a look people emulate.

if you don't like the standard def look, i understand. there are plenty of videos of snowboarders in nice, crisp hd though. significantly more hd videos that i have seen actually, than standard def. unless all you've watched have been stan's handycam edits from hood, in which case the filming is awful in the first place, and not the fault of the camera.

here are some good hd snowboard edits from this summer:

Camp Backflip from FootyFIEND.com on Vimeo.

SUMMER VACATION Tape 1 from Fed List on Vimeo.

Session 5, 2013: Summer Snowboard Camp from Windells on Vimeo.
