Snow Watch 07/08

Haha, sooooo fucking tired coming over the pass last night. I havent slept since 9 AM Moab time. Last nights 3am crossing of i-90 was shiiiiiiitttty. So much snow. At least I got to snowskate behind a car like those crazy arabs and we did doughnuts on I-90 weeeeeeee.

Ok, I'm gonna sleep now.

i would enjoy nice sunny days, right after a week of snow.... and then it can start snowing again when the mountain is not open, until next weekend

with 500-1000 foot snow levels?

"A STRONG...COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DROPPING SOUTH OUT OF CANADA

WILL USHER IN A COLDER AIR MASS THAT WILL RESULT IN UNSEASONABLY

COLD TEMPERATURES AND PLUMMETING SNOW LEVELS BY THIS WEEKEND.

DAYTIME TEMPERATURES ON FRIDAY WILL BE IN THE MID 40S TO LOWER 50S

ACROSS THE LOWLANDS AND IN THE UPPER 20S TO MID 30S IN THE CASCADE

PASSES. ON SATURDAY...DAYTIME TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BE

WINTER LIKE. DAYTIME TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE LOWLANDS ABOUT THIS

TIME OF THE YEAR ARE NORMALLY IN THE MID 50S TO LOWER 60S.

THE SNOW LEVEL WILL ALSO PLUMMET TO NEAR SEA LEVEL LATE FRIDAY

NIGHT...THUS IT IS LIKELY THAT ANY SHOWERS OVER THE LOWLANDS WILL

CHANGE OVER TO SNOW OR A RAIN AND SNOW MIX. THE PRECIPITATION WILL

CHANGE BACK OVER TO RAIN DURING THE DAY SATURDAY. THE THREAT FOR

SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE LOWLANDS LATE SATURDAY

NIGHT AND EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.

IF ANY CLEARING OCCURS ACROSS THE LOWLANDS AT NIGHT...IT COULD ALLOW

TEMPERATURES TO DIP INTO THE MID 20S AT SOME LOCALES...ESPECIALLY

OVER THE SOUTHWEST INTERIOR. THEREFORE THOSE WITH FROST SENSITIVE

NURSERY STOCK...ORNAMENTALS...OR VEGETABLES SHOULD MONITOR THE

FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CLOSELY THE NEXT FEW

DAYS."

JESUS CHRIST. This is pure madness. I need to get up there NOW. Are ticket prices discounted any for college kids or people with other seasons passes? I really wanna go.

Don't everyone jizz their pants at once. I was up at alpental today and it was mank all the way to the top. I'm sure this weekend is going to be sick but I wouldn't count on that "16 inches".

it's soooo cold outside. it started snowing a little bit in north seattle. now i'm in issaquah at work and there's no precip yet.....soon....

It

doesn't seem fair, but it's the cold, hard truth — accent on cold: While

Seattle hasn't seen a 70-degree day in more than two weeks, Fairbanks, Alaska,

has had six of them in the past 10 days.

Just

about everyone, it seems, is toastier than we are. You've heard of

International Falls, Minn., the self-proclaimed "Icebox of the

Nation"? It's had four days this month in the 70s, topped off with a

pleasant 75 on Sunday. Across the Atlantic, the northern destination of Oslo,

Norway, has been passing the 70-degree mark nearly every day recently, while

even the Siberian city of Tomsk, Russia, hit the 70s last weekend.

Meanwhile,

shivering Seattle residents, hearing about snowplows back at work on Snoqualmie

Pass this week, probably have only dim memories of the 77-degree high of May

24, the last time the mercury crept into the 70s here.

On

Tuesday, state highway workers clearing away the last of 7 inches of snow on

Interstate 90 could remember only two other times in the past 30 years that

snowplows have been called out this late in the year.

Maybe

we shouldn't complain too loudly, though.

The

East Coast has been sweating and sweltering in mid- to upper-90-degree heat,

setting records in several areas.

In

New York City, the temperature was pushing toward the 100-degree mark. Combined

with high humidity, the heat had people scurrying for shade or air-conditioned

relief.

Weather

experts say June made its chilliest debut ever in Seattle last week, but at

least a temporary respite is on the way. The National Weather Service forecasts

highs of 69 on Thursday, 72 on Friday and 69 on Saturday, before highs drop

back into the mid-60s Sunday and Monday.

^ after six months? jesus they must've been buried deep. RIP.

and i dont know about you guys buy im diggin this weather we ar ehaving up here. this is my first summer in bham, and compared to pullmans 90-110 degree summer heat, this 65 and sunny business is freakin awesome.

i remember the weekend those guys got lost. probably the worst avy conditions all year. shit was ripping huge everywhere... straight to the grass. those guys were not bright heading out to begin with. maybe i could even find my wallet up there now. where were they found?
