Snow Mobile skiing

I can't figure out how skiers and snowboarders can go to the top of a line with a snowmobile. what do they do with the snowmobile?

does one guy sacrifice his line and not ski?

why so they have multiple snowboards on the snowmobile at times?

Not true. That would just be stupid. They take the snowmobile up to the top, then a helicopter comes and carries it down, and the skiiers ski their line.
