Snow Making Job

unless you've been doing it for a long time its usually pretty low, just above minimum wage at our hill. You dont really go to school for it, just apply at your hill. Its pure absolute bitch work for your first couple seasons hauling hoses and digging guns in the cold at 2am. Not for everyone.

Now if your talking about grooming that takes alot more time and experience, and most have operator licence courses which cost thousands.

they normal trainer you at the mountain or hill you are working at. One of the places i worked at the SMI guys came and gave a little clinnic because we had some new people and we had just gotten like 5 or 6 new guns.

Snowmaking can be a very fun job. but also can be danguors and get out of control in real fast way. If its really cold like it is in most of the US right know you can make a lot of snow in short amount of time but things start freezzing and iceing open realy fast.

snowmaking is a thankless job. anyone that will work at night blowing frozen shit on a hill should be given some credit.

yeah if you want to be a REAL snowmaker, work the night crew. if you don't want to do much, be on the day crew. My dad runs the night crew at killington, and he puts in up to 80 hours some weeks, but he's addicted to the job i guess. He told me not to ever get into it thought because i'll never make any money. He's been there 10 years, and is just now starting to make a decent paycheck.

i definitley would opt to go to college and make a real living. You def. won't do too well being a snow maker and it seems like a pretty shitty job being cold and riding snowmobiles all day long

ya its kinda like water a golf course during the summer. I do it, it sucks ass, i am usually at the course till 3 then sleep all day and do it again. Your life is completley backwards and you never get to see any of your frienbs. But its an easy job. Thank God its only a summer job

it does take a little bit of training and there is something they want you to have previous experience in...i think it's engineering
