doesnt it seem sort of funny how the most powerful country in the world cannot catch one person who keeps doing the same thing over and over, and inside thier own country? that guy/girl must be talented

yeah snipers that shoot from 1000-1500m's generally wouldnt be using a .223cal round either its not enough to shoot that far. you wouldnt need a silencer if your killing your victim with one shot by then its too late for them to do anything. and it would be hard for someone to fuck up from that range with a sited in scope and the chest is just a higher precentage hit zone and the 223 round should kill someone shot in the chest when it tumbles.

my theory is....is that there are 2 guys that have teamed up. the guy they 'caught' mathced the snipers description perfectly. he has the murder weapon..books on military sniper tactics. and the same white chevy astro van. anyone else care to voice your theory?

 
they said on the radio that all that was just a coincedence and they had no reason to believe that guy was the sniper.

I think it's odd how so many people are scared. I'd be willing to bet more people have been killed in that state in the last 2 weeks from gun accedents than there has been from the sniper. I'd be more worried about letting my kid go to another persons house whos parents owned a gun. 180+ people died in Bali yesterday and yet today at my school one of my teachers asked us to pray for the people who have been shot. I'm not saying they're not worthy of being recognized, but there are worse things going on that should be recognized and this massive amount of media coverage is only adding to the paranoia of people and the ego of the killer.

It's the total randomness of the killings that has people freaked out. Yah, the bomb in bali was pretty horrific but it's over now...the damage has been done. With the sniper....anyone could be next. The chances of it being you or someone you know are the same for everyone. I'd be pretty damn scared if i lived there.

I say white, i dunno why. How many do you guys think will be killed before he is caught or stops? I say in the 20s. How do you guys think this reflects on the Gun Laws, I think this incident will change them for the better.

OK, first of all, this guy needs to be taken out.

Second, I don't think he's all that good in the first place. To guess, he has limited military training. To snipe anyone from 30meters to 150meters is very easy. A .223 cal or 5.56mm NATO round fired from assorted types of rifles, can accuratly hit from 700-900meters.

Which brings up another point, people keep on talking about .223 cal bullet can't be effective over....meters.

Ummm...much depends on what fires that round. The russian VEPR has low recoil, is quiet (reletively speaking), and is very accurate. Also not that expensive.

Though, if i were to guess, 'crazy' is using a M96 or something close to that. Made the same as the C7 and M16, reliable and very accurate. heres the real kicker, AVAILABLE to U.S. Citizens for only $1500.

And the 'tumble' effect after the bullets stops spinning, can cause more damage cause it rips thru the body.

On a side note, he/she seems to be well planned, as far as escape routes go.

Well now that U.S Armed forces and planes are being deployed, hopefully he'll be caught.

First off, this isn't just any lunatic. If he was, we'd have caught him by now. He's smart, he's calculating... and I think he's proving a point. I have no idea what this may be, but I choose to look at it this way:

The United States thinks that we have the power and the might to control the actions of anyone who fucks with us, anywhere in the world. Our government is saying that it doesn't matter who or where you are, we will find you and stop you if you are a terrorist. AND YET: We can't even stop one man INSIDE the US who decides to pick up a rifle.

Also, has anyone noticed the incredible American prejudice that we have here? This is a perfect example... some Palestinian kid blows himself up with a homemade bomb and injures two people, a kid who has known violence and hatred all of his life, and thinks he is serving his people the best he can; we automatically label him a 'terrorist.' And yet, a guy who is probably just a pissed-off white ex-military extremist goes around and kills nine people so far, but he's not a 'terrorist'; no, he's just a sniper. Have you seen any headlines that say 'Terrorist Strikes again?' I don't think so. A nice little serving of ethno-centricism for you... you're only a terrorist if you have dark skin and wear a turban.

lol, you can't gain shooting skills from video games... theres no way its possible. You don't gain technical knowledge, skills in escape and evasion, accuracy, and steadiness of the hand from playing all night sessions of Counter-strike or Soldier of Fortune, if anything, you gain shaky hands from the massive caffiene intake. A mouse and keyboard setup is quite different from a real life rifle.

The media, once again, is looking for a scapegoat to blame this on. They ALWAYS look over the fact that its probably the way he was brought up, mabye he was medically depresses... or hell... on the off chance... mabye he is a religious fanatic, doesnt have to be Muslim, could be one of the VERY many nutzo Christian groups. There are so many more reasons that they are afraid to approach because they are afraid of 'offending' someone. So they go after the easy target, video games... I'm sorry, but if I'm the only one that thinks that blaming games is rediculous, then shoot me.

As for the terrorist deal, they don't know his motives, they don't know who he is. He very well could just be a nut out for the thrill of the kill. As the definition of terrorist is 'one who seeks to cause terror', they can't define him as one, as yet, until they have his motive.

you actually can learn stealth tactics and how to correctly shoot a gun in video games, Look at americas army for example, this is a free game the army puts out using the unreal engine, and you can learn to shoot in training parts of the game... shoot inbetween breathing cycles on either the exhale or inhale...

but ya they are jumping to conclusions... with the game theory, its pretty gay how games and music and shit get blamed for everything these days.

a radio station here in edmonton had an army sniper on the radio talking about this. he was pretty sure that he wasn't an ex military sniper. the guy is too eratic, missed some easy shots, and left forensic evidence (tarot cards, etc) military guys probably wouldn't do it. he was also saying that the type of gun used is really easy to learn to use. he said that he could teach most people to hit bulseyes at x meters within 20 mins. so it is probably some pissed off guy.

well i hard they found him today its crazy how the found him someone tipped them off about a robbery in atlanta or soemthing the figer prints where from the guy in tocoma. Then like 2 hrs later they found them in reststop. i hear they had a hole in the car and shot out of the back or soemthing.

I live in maryland even though I ski in Pennsylvania yeah thats right skiing in penn but yeah you cant watch tv without this shit being everywhere. I'm so glad they got those bitches they were causing some serious stress around hear especially wiht halloween being right around the corner and the snipers saying that your kids arent safe.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous how much media coverage this has gotten. It's bullshit. couple thousand people die overseas in a natural disaster, hostage crisis in Russia, those just get minor footnotes, but HOLY SHIT a couple people get shot here and it's the biggest thing ever, and nothing else is more important. I fucking hate the media.

the sniper only affects people on the west coast a little more than the hostage situation in russia. at least that is the way I see it. yeah It's in the same country, but moscow is actually closer to washington dc than hawwii is. so it is actually closer to some americans, than the sniper. wow that's a stretch. but I still see the loss of 100+ lives as more important than the coverage about the lives of the snipers!
