Smith I/O & IO/X vs. Oakley Crowbar/Splice

I've gone through 2 pairs of crowbars and I'm currently on a pair of Smith IO/X's and in my opinion I prefer the IO/X much over Oakley just specifically because of the Anti-Fog coating on Oakley lenses being a bitch after they get slightly messed with.

Anyone else find Smith goggles to be more of your liking or do you prefer Oakley? I would love to hear what you have to say.

DISCUSS!

How the fuck have you not considered the canopy imo best goggle out, so comfortable and great field of view. Had I/O's and they were great but I found the foam didn't last ages and the fleece layer half peeled of and would suck to use. Those were before smith put in triple layer foam though

I too prefer Smith to Oakley. Currently wearing the Vice, which I love. Personally, when I wear the Crowbar or Splice, I feel like I'm looking down a tube. I also wear the POC Lobes, which I think is a better goggle than either of those companies. NEVER had an issued with fogging, and I feel like the lenses are much stronger and scratch less than the other two.

i agree, my smith prophecys are the nicest goggles i have out of oakleys, dragons, giros, and spys.

For me the performance isn't super different.

I have used Crowbars almost exclusively for 3 seasons (4 total years, one of which was missed due to injury). Rather than having lenses to swap, I basically used 2 pairs: one black iridium, one hi intensity yellow, depending on light conditions. This has worked just fine for me and I've had no real issues.

This year, I bought some I/OXs, and have used them 5 times so far. I still keep at least one pair of Crowbars with me in the car or my pack in case something happened to my Smiths, but they're now the goggles I use.

I would say that the Smith lenses I have are better all around - the Black Iridium is probably a bit better for sunny days than the green sol x, and more versatile than my blackout, which I used for all of one run because I haven't had a full bluebird day yet. But realistically, you use your low light lens more than your bright / mirror lens in the west, and the blue sensor mirror lens is a bit better, imo, than hi yellow. It's close, though.

The I/OX are clearly the winners in terms of how easy it is to swap lenses, though.

I love oakley, Ive used smith before and I have just personally preferred oakley interms of lens quality and feel

I've used both extensively and I wear the I/O just based on the fit for my face and swapping lenses is easy. There are lenses Oakley makes I wish I could have in my Smith's, but overall I'm very happy with them. For me, whichever one of those two companies makes a frame that fits best is what I'll go with.
