hey guys. this year i was thinking that i might want to try skis from a small bramd like icelantic or nas.
do you think those brands are better than salomon, atomic etc?im 4'11.
and weigh 82 pounds.50 / 50 park all muntain
thanks

first of all nas is a ski series made by Libtech.

second of all....one ski company isnt necessrily better than another, they might be a larger sized company but different people like different skis. The 4frnt MSP last year was one of the sickest mid-fat twin tips made in a while, but there were sick ones made by other companies too.

The disadvantage to buying skis from smaller companies like 4frnt, libtech, liberty, etc...is that not alot of ski stores carry them, and sales are mostly made online, so seeing the ski in person, flexing it, etc is not available like that of the larger companies. Warrantying skis to smaller companies is sometimes a hassle too, dealers of salomon or volkl and shit tend to accommodate you a bit more than others.

yea..

for sure, it is always nice to support the little guys, but the big guys were at one time, little guys.. anyways, one downfall is trying to get warranty problems taken care of, which the shop you bought them from should be able to help you with..

I remember trying to warranty a pair of 9th wards for a customer, and it took quite a while, and it wasn't totally 9th wards fault.. they only had so many hands that could help.. but something to consider.

just do your homework, and I would suggest buying in person in this case...

Icelantic does free demos all year long. check thier website ,Icelanticboards.com and check the dates and where. I love their skis. don't write them off because they are short. I did until I skied them. for 09 they are coming in longer lengths

I love smaller companies, I actually find their customer service a lot better then the major companies (not hating on them though). 4frnt msp's maybe a little too stiff for you, I ski on the 06-07 and they are hella stiff. Great for chargin though, and decent in the park. I cant talk about the other skis your asking about. 4frnt TNK and Stl are super good too. I would do some research (maybe pick up last years freeskier buyers guide) or I think you can check it out on the web still. If you looking at small companies do alot of research (and not on here because most of answers will get are just opinions). Hope this helps
