oh and also if you get a chance find gran tourino w/clint eastwood its efifng awesome as well

i thought torino sucked. typical overacting by eastwood.. with a boring story. check out 'Taken' 'Real-Time (not the ski vid)'and 'Boy A' for better flicks.

Yeah that was a super solid movie. I got the book for my step mom for Christmas. She said it was pretty good as well.

This movie is amazing. Admittedly I had to be dragged to it because I've seen my share of Bollywood flicks and I wasn't in a rush to see another, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. Such a good story, good soundtrack and the little kids were amazing.

This is so sick that there's a thread about this movie. I'm a huge movie buff, so much so that my close friends and family come to me to ask if a movie is worth seeing or not. It took two times for me to decide that Slumdog Millionaire is the best movie I have ever seen, and thats saying something.
This film is phenomenal is every aspect of the word, it WILL win best director and picture at the oscars guaranteed. The directing is equal to that of Scorsese is greatness and the writing rivals some of the best. See this movie, you will enjoy it and you will be awed.
I would write a full review but that would take about 4 pages so I'll save the time, just see the movie!

that's probably due in part to the fact this this is a Hollywood movie, not a Bollywood movie.

Yeah, I didn't learn until later that the director and production company were English. It wasn't really Hollywood though.

scorsese? i don't think so. and best movie you have ever seen? you haven't see a lot.

and to that kid who thought taken was better then gran torino. you're wrong.

I just saw the movie last night and I loved it. It was so simple, and it still kept you on the edge of your seat.

god that movie was good. i saw it really high and god it was good.

has anyone found a good version of torrent download not like camera quality?

haha see thats funny because you just said i don't see a lot of movies.
Oh man, I love people who assume things, because they're always wrong.

What's that supposed to mean? I'm educated (film degree) and I thought it was a great movie. If someone wants to lump it in as one of the best so what? It's not like the actings crappy, or there're boom mics dropping down into the shots. Aside from production values it's all pretty much subjective.

and about Taken being better than Gran Torino, GT had one good actor, who was over the top most of the time. Taken had an entire cast of professional actors. Taken had many more exciting locations than Gran Torino. The story of Taken, "man hunts down his kidnaped daughter", is more compelling than "old man helps out neighbor". There was alot more firepower in Taken, requiring more work from the crew. I'm not saying I prefer one over the other, because I really don't, they were both fine, sometimes crappy.

Here's the thing, you've just run around this thread talking shit without expanding on any of it. Comming across as an opinionated jerk who's so entrenched in his ideas that he can't even rationalize them.

okay mr.film degree. did you know clint casted hmongs that had no acting experience on purpose?

obviously with your film degree they didn't teach you to think critically about movies. if you only saw gran torino as a movie about a guy who helps out his neighbor you need to be educated.

After reading both threads on this movie, I have to say that I wasn't impressed. It was good, but not all that it was made out to be. I have spoken.

i saw it last friday, and it wasnt as good as i thought, but thats just me. the editing, filming and music were amazing, but its the content/story that i found to be average.

good fucking movie

*spoiler alert*

the call a friend and Samil's cellphone part was so predictable

Are you kidding me? Gran Torino was amazing. The emotional appeals of that movie were on a whole other level than Slumdog.
