SLR to DSLR lens mount

So I am on the brink of convincing my parents to help me out with a t2i, but my parents have some older lenses from their SLR's that they would like to still use on the t2i. They have an old Minolta Maxxum 7000 with an old sigma 75-200. and some others. As I understand it the mount for the Minolta (AF I believe?) is completely different than the EOS mount of the t2i, so my questions are..

Is it as easy as just getting an adapter for the lenses?

Will I loose quality if I do buy an adapter?

if you just google the mount type, i'm sure you will come up with results.

ex. "minolta to eos" gives: http://www.amazon.com/Minolta-lens-Canon-mount-adapter/dp/B000YD77KE

It should work out, you just won't have auto focus and you'll have to adjust the aperture on the lens.

And you'll lose a lot of IQ because you're putting glass between the sensor and the lens - it does work though.
