Slow mo.

so i justwatched about 5 minutes of White Paradise (the free movie in NSTV) and noticed that almost every trick is in slo motion. to me, slow mo should only be used to emphasize the most intense of tricks. it cant be overused. there was some pretty good skiing in there but man, i bet if it was in full speed it would be like 1/2 as long. anyways thats what i think of motion that is slowed down.

i'd rather see really massive hits in real time (i.e the big hip from ski porn, or the one from follow me around). i am simply saying that multiple clips of slow mo get repetitive and boring, and should not be overused. same with fisheye.

the slow mo from whistler session in 7 was sick.

Often overused, it has to be pretty sick if the trick is to look better in slow mo

I like slow mo in heli shots a lot. I don't like it in other things. PoorBoyz uses slow mo too much in my opinion but i guess its one of their "things". On the other hand I really like how Level 1 truly captures the essence of speed.

yeah, i rarely use slow mo

no slo mo

honestly like only really cool things look good in slow mo, like great white sharks pwning seals

i dunno man, i love watching skiing in slow mo sometimes, it just makes everything a little smoother and stuff..but i agree with the fisheye thing, i hate watching fisheye stuff...it sucks

when your shooting in slow mo, its hard to know when the skier is going to do the most "emphasized" trick as you call it. Even if you know what the athlete is going for you could still get a really good shot that may not be the most epic of a whole segment, should you trash a shot simply because its not "emphasized"? Most slow-mo is that way because it is shot at a specific frame rate to achieve slow motion.

i love slo mo. makes everything look so sick. That shot from Follow Me Around on the hip that your talking about is in slo-mo.

yeah of course, you can do tons of speeding up, or slowing down in post production while editing, but most slow mo you do see in professional films is filmed that way at that frame rate. In post production it looks decent and can look really sharp especially if you use Optical Flow. But for the most part its shot that way.

no my camera shoots in slow mo and is not a little shitty interlaced camera.
i think it looks super sick, just can easily be overused and make some action boring.
