Slope and Pipe in 2015 Vancouver Deaflympics

there aren't that MANY but yeah there are some, i only know of like 4 deaf freeskiers in the US alone including myself. the deaf community is like somewhat small compared to the hearing world. but i do hope that this movement will reach out to other deaf freeskiers around the world, i mean hey you guys in sweden or france, whatever send em in the right direction where we all can get together and compete in the games alike. come on guys dont you want to see more slope competitions, like someday you are just shreddin in whistler on a normal day in 2015 and you come across a bunch of people signing with their hands and participating in their own olympics, thats fucking cool ok, i need more likes on the facebook page. +karma for you.

well the facebook page is just to have the people like it and its going to be shown to the international deaf sports committee which is almost exactly like the IOC. so yeah it will work.

so how big of a disadvantage is it to be deaf? i honestly didn't think it was that much, if anything. just look at ashley fiolek.

how big of a disadvantage to be deaf? son, why dont you cut your ears off and find out yourself? we cant hear for shit! well at least i cant hear people laughing at me or pokin fun at me whenever i embarrass myself in the park, yet i cant hear advices that people have to throw out to me. yeah ashley fiolek, its phenomenal, she actually uses her deafness as an advantage to compete. need more likes on the page help out.

well true you can't hear advice all the time, but why do you think people are laughing at you? and if someone is, don't you know that everyone thinks the kid laughing at you is a fucking bitch?

Liked it, isnt it a pretty big disadvantage not beeing able to hear what happens around you when you ski? Like if some gaper is coming behind you screaming or whatever..?

every laughter i get out of someone is a bitch, all it does is pushes me to break my boundaries. i never give up.

then im screwed in the ass. no really i use my eyes all the time, ADD pays off for me to look around me all the time.

ha i know who you are i saw you at the rail jam recently friday at RIT, i was the kid with the green hat, black and red plaid jacket, standing and talking to jordan.

hate to be a buzzkill..but how does being deaf affect skiing ability? its like me trying to organize a comp for dislexic people...not relavent to skiing

hope i didn't sound like a dick

that's what i'm wondering. i feel that the human body is incredible enough to adapt to different senses in order to ski as well as someone with hearing.

oh ok i get it now, why is it special for a somewhat large group to have their own olympics. every one of us humans has fluids in our ears, inside the cochlea. its like a spiral shell where sounds travel through, ok now average human has a cochlea that goes around in spirals 2.5 times. mine goes around 1.5 times, as i mentioned about the fluids in the cochlea, what about it? the fluids help us to be stabilizability balanced. most of the deaf people don't have these fluids in their ears, most of us are really bad at balancing. for the love of skiing or skateboarding or surfing or bmx (yes i know people who are core into it) we have to adjust our bodies to it. ive seen people walking just normally in my school, but the deaf people cant just walk straight like a perfect line. my roomate is ultra clumsy, sometimes he would just talk to you then all the sudden he starts leaning and he ends up on one foot then falls like as he couldnt have control over it. he still skis for the love of it. i have disequilibrium balance disorder, my right ear is completely dry of fluids in my cochlea, and when i throw a 360 my head automatically dips to the left and my balance is thrown off. as in there is some fluid in my right cochlea (its like my right side of the head is heavier which is why my head automatically dips to the left) i have to think and direct my head oppose to where it would dip to avoid a flaky 3 that looks almost like a cork 3. which is why i fail about 70% of my jumps on the booter. i stick to big floating 1s. but it doesn't stop me at all i keep going and keep pushing for the 5s or 7s. my body core usage is used A LOT more because of my tiny disorder.
more info on the balance disorder just wiki it, its right there.
nah u aint soundin like a dick, ur just askin for knowledge. yeah i know, its like why the deafies have their own winter games, why not put it together with the hearing? theres your answer.
we can really join the ranks of the hearing, sure like ashley fiolek bryansbryan mentioned. its just A LOT harder on the deaf all because of balancing disorders. when you see a deaf athlete like ashley fiolek, its just phenomenal.

uhmm i think back in the days john wooden or some other coach had an all short people team and beated the crap out of the dominance team... but yeah, you should be offended cuz ur a little bitch ok.
keep the clicks coming people, i need a thousand likes.
