So yeah I am looking for a winter weather sleeping bag and I have little experience in winter camping, so was wondering what people that know what they are buying prefer and would recommend for winter mountain camping?
A good zero degree bag will work fine. If you start getting in temperatures below zero throw a summer bag and it will give you a lot more to work with.
The biggest mistake I see people make winter camping is they don't have enough insulation from the ground. You should have a 1 & 1/2" of insulation underneath you if your sleeping on ice or snow.
You then can choose between down or synthetic filling.
Down is amazing in mounteeniring or dry winter climates.
