Sleeping at Killington

My friends and I are on our way up to Killington tonight to sleep overnight. Should we try and sleep in the lot? Is there anywhere near the mountain we should park and sleep at Instead?

Any tips for sleeping in the car?

If you are going to sleep in the car I would say park on the parking lot across the street from the Skyeship lodge and gondola. I haven't slept there but no one ever seems to be at Skyeship and it seems pretty safe there.

It's bad luck.

Wow heads up to thousands of skibums across the country then and oh is that why line wont let tom be on an episode of tc? Makes sense now thanks for clarifying.

Gotta make sure your ride is Wolf proof, I've heard they are out of control in the killington area, especially these past few years and will smash windows and have even opened a few doors on jeeps to get at people. Seriously tragic when it happens.

If you're gonna do it, make sure you have a good sleeping bag that'll be reasonably warm in the temperature. If you find a good spot to spend the night, temperature will probably be the biggest worry.

Realistic and useful answer here, as I have done this. DO NOT PARK IN ANY OF KILLINGTONS LOTS. They will try to tow you if you do. I called and asked about it and I got a resounding no and a stern warning not to do it. Solution? Sleep at the AMC trailhead that is in between Killy and Pico. No one cares there. If its going to be dumping bring a shovel though you might need it.

^ never been to kton, but from looking at the map one of the trailheads for all the forest in the area seems to be the best bet

make sure you have a sleeping pad/something to insulate beneath you, I like to sleep in a lightweight synthetic bag with a down bag or comforter over the synthetic when I car camp. Some people will sleep with their boots in their bag, I've never had good luck with that. Warming them by blasting them with heat on the floorboards in the morning works well.

I have several times, never was an issue

We tried to sleep in the killy lot, we were pretty stealthy, went at night and parked beside a big box truck in the corner. Sadly they do have security that sweep the lots and we were told to leave or they would call the police and tow our car. We ended up driving down the hill and just parked in a hotel parking lot.
