Whats the difference between slack lining and sport climbing? Im curious cuz im about to buy some rock climbing gear and I think sport climbing would be more suited to my style

God is an American.

I have no idea what sport climbing is, Im assuming its just rock climbing, slacklining is a 1 inch wide nylon rope that you balance on. Does anyone know how to tie the knots????

no, but i've tried it and it's fun

just improvize the knots, and it'll turn out the same. Especially if you're only gonna be 1-2 feet off the ground

I have 2 slack lines at my house. I used an overhand knot and a z drag to set it up. It helped my skiing so much last year in terms of balance and agility. It really builds the little muscles around your legs strengthen. If you need help setting it up message me.

I slackline and I do not climb. My buddies in Bozeman who are climbers had one and I screwed around on it when I visited a few years ago and I loved it so much I put a couple in my yard.

You can buy tubular webbing at any climbibg shop and then use a few beaners and a comealong to tighten it up between some trees.

its kinda like tightrope walking, but much harder. Its 3 dimensional, the line is moving side to side and up and down. tightropes dont move. i will try and get some pics up soon

I dont climb, It looks like fun but Im just a skier who likes slacklining.

Does anyone know two simple but effective knots for this without any climbing gear involved?

i use either a grigri or a camalong winch....those are super cheap...you can get a winch at a hardware store for super cheap......you should tie something super reliable like a figure 8 on one side that wont tighten up, and keep tightening the winch as the session progresses.....do all you guys slackline with webbing, or do any of you use a static rope....i set up a few huge ones with a static line and they were dope

yeah, a grigri would work awesome. I know the knots but don't think I could explain them to you on here. Z drag is best way to make it really tight. Tye off with a bunch of clove hitches. I've heard that alot of surfers tend to slackline too

so you just walk across a rope stung above high places? Seems hard and you have my respect for doing it but do people really make it their #1 hobby?

If you're doing it really high up, that is high lining. You use an extra safetly line in case you fall. There is also two pieces of webbing, one that is thicker that you are not walking on. Because often times when the line gets longer there is more stress on it, and if you fell hard, it could snap

sounds kinda cool, I just woulnd't quit skiing to become a slackliner

I dont want pullies or wenches, i just want to know how to tie the knots to tie them to trees. When I've done it they just tied knots but I was to stupid to learn and now i cant. I just need the knots.

jib guy-

The easiest thing to do if you want to be able to move it easily is to buy a few carabiners. The minimum you could get by with would be three, but four is better. You can get cheap biners for like $5 each. Its really easy to set up an autolocking 4 to 1 system, but its kind hard to explain how. I will get pictures of mine up tomorrow so you can see how its done. This system works really good!

Ive done it where you use some kinda of slip knots or something to tie it really tight to a tree, I aint buying no carabeners or anything, i just want to know what knots to use.
