This man has been dropping some insane music. Anyone else caught up in the hype? I'm somewhat new to EDM so I wasn't super familiar with him before I saw him at a festival last year but I am now very impressed
 
I saw skrillex's emo band from first to last back in the day. Was kinda of funny when he blew up djing. He was more entertaining singing shitty songs.

He apparently developed polyps singing those "shitty" songs which is honestly a kinda funny reason for him to switch to focusing on his edm stuff. Apparently he still works with FFTL sometimes, and he's made a few emo songs on his own too

Honestly a sick record. I didn't really get the "brostep" stuff until a few days ago... figured out that you gotta listen to it with the same ears you listen to like punk and metal with. His new stuff is still better but that's usually how music goes

Those three only have one song out right now called Rumble which is insane. I never thought they could go that hard on some old school dubstep. I think they have one more in the works. Skrill and Four Tet have a track called Butterflies that is cool too

It's just massively oversaturated, and such a blanket umbrella term for so many styles of music. And a lot of it is low quality, mass produced, generic crap but there is still good stuff out there.

i think of EDM in those dark days of E and cocaine... Therefore there is a bad correlation with it. So yea i'd agree with sad

Yeah, people see the shitty pop music by Diplo types and the weird ass Hudson Mohawke shit on the charts and think that represents all electronic music lmao. But even then, artists like Skrill and Porter still top the charts so I'm not sure if that ignorance is valid

There also are just so many artists who make very genre-confirming music, and who try to replicate a sound instead of creating their own. For example, if I were to search “house mix”, “dubstep mix” ect or even a more specific sub genre on YouTube you just get overwhelmed with the sheer quantity of extremely similar, uninteresting music. Usually when I find something I like it’s by recommendation or totally random
 
Yall more excited for QFF or DGTC? I love me some hyperpop but the QFF tracks have been absolutely insane, and the record seems way more ambitious. Fred again, Bobby Raps, and Nai Barghouti on the same record is hilariously awesome

I think I dissed it in this thread but I'm still p excited for Don't Come Too Close. The title track may not be a "banger" but it's p cool. Not sure who this mysterious Sonny Moore kid is but it's cool that Skrillex is featuring up and coming singers ?

It's another word for like a fairy or a pixie. I don't get the title; the song is very much... not about monsters or fairies. It's apparently a reference to the David Bowie album but iunno

I've heard so many stories like this, and it's wild as someone who didn't care at all until he started his comeback at Second Sky a few months ago lmao. Been glued to his feed ever since

Suppose that's what's great about the internet. Discovering music new to us after its viral moment! Will have to check out his new stuff, I still like EDM.

As much as i hate anime I still sometimes listen to 'From First to Last' every now and then. And of course, scary monsters and nice sprites.
