Skis.

Hey guys asking this question for my brother here. He was wondering if a ski that is 5 inches taller than him would be fine. He is 5'4 and 120lbs

^5ft 4 is like 162cm vs 176cm thalls is a bit over 5 inches difference. they are pretty big, if he is growing really fast they might be ok, otherwise i'd just get a smaller ski

Yah but if he's already riding a 171 a 176 isnt gonna be much of a noticeable difference at all haha who cares if the skis are 5 inches bigger than him when his old skis are 5 centimeters smaller

yup, if you're from europe or canada you'll know 5cm isn't that bad of a difference, you'll get used to it after 2 days of skiing

Nonetheless he is already riding a ski 9cm taller than him which is longer than most people ride. Yes he will get used to it but unless he is growing extremely fast, going bigger at this stage seems pointless. Not many people on NS ride a cambered ski 14cm taller than them in the park.

oh, sorry didn't read good enough.. well then it's to much, i usually ski a 176 but i'm about 181 ( 5'11) and when i tried 181 skis, i noticed everything was sketchy, so 14 cm would be way to much

He will probably not be comfortable with skis taller than him unless he is on the high end of expert. He'll be able to ski them, but they'll be far from ideal.

i'm 5'5 and anyone my height should be riding 168-172's. i could ride 176's, but i never really liked the long ski deal, unless i'm riding pow. overall if he wants to ride 176, let him do it.
