Skis the East

What is your opinion on the East Skiing? I personally love it and believe that everyone should at least Ski the East once in there life.

TBH I love it.

As much as I love skiing and wish I could ski 12 months a year, having a shorter 4-4.5 month season is awesome in itself. Like you really get to appreciate the time you have out on the hill a lot more than if you've got a season thats longer than the off season. It just makes it so much better when that time of year comes around.

Hot laps(that are actually hot laps) are hard to beat.

Skiing a small mtn/hill also makes trips out West that much better. I'm lucky enough to ski a hill with enough good terrain that I can handle myself out west but they're always 100x better than here. So it's nice to have a good mix.

From what I know, night skiing isn't everywhere out west, but around here it is. It's great that I could ski everyday after school whereas some people might get stuck just skiing weekends or on breaks because of school. But we always could go growing up which was nice.

Exams also line up nicely. First or second week in december or mid may. We usually aren't skiing around those times so I'm not horribly distracted by skiing. (:

We have snowflex which is pretty awesome. It doesn't compare to skiing on real snow but it's an awesome place regardless!!

Summer set ups are rad. We get a lot of time on those.

And you know? It's pretty awesome to step back during the summer and do something a little different. As much as I want to ski, it's nice to have a break and do other things. Each year it seems summer lasts too long, but it is what it is. The East is home. I don't think I could ever go very far away for very long (:

Mixed feelings. Growing up on the east has been great, the ice coast conditions have definitely made me an all around better rider and skier but it's definitely getting old fast. Especially being in the southern part of Vermont I'm not getting the bigger mountains and the backcountry. But again, I definitely have a deep love for east coast skiing just because it's home.

I grew up in Colorado, and most of my family still lives there. I've lived in CT for about 9 years, and the second I graduate I'm sending it back West.

I live 8 minutes away from the local hill here, and it has really brought out my passion for the sport to live here and shred every day. I'm sick of people bashing the East, it's an experience I wouldn't trade for anything.

Josh Malczyk, Global Brand Director of Line Skis says:

"Connecticut skiing is the soul of the ski world. Really though, any place where you’ve got small hills and have to find the passion to go skiing every day after school or shovel your own jumps and ski until they turn the lights off is the soul of the ski world. Feeder hills are the gateway drug to a lifelong addiction that can bring you to some amazing places with friends."

I LIED. FUCK THE EAST COAST THIS WINTER BLOWS MORE DICK THAN I DO.

Literally died when I read this. but for real if cold temps could show up (and stay around for a while) that'd be awesome. we got some flurries tonight and my hill can potentially make snow the next 4 nights... but its going to rain and be in the 50's for the next 2 weeks... like whats the point.

Literally hilarious. I'm a skier at Magic Mountain (VT), and they can't even open yet. So far this winter sucks.

I'm down in North Carolina walking to class in 70 degree weather. Skiing the East is one thing, skiing the Southeast is another entirely. I thought El Niño would be the most important man in my life this winter but it seems he just can't get it up... fucking shocker.

Ayy! Sugar and Beech are closest to me so I started there. I also have traveled up to Wintergreen and Winterplace a few times as well. But I actually started skiing at Snowshoe. I don't make that drive much anymore since it's almost easier to find a cheap flight out west or up north! Love reppin the dirty south!!

I will definitely hit you up! I'm actually in school at UNC Chapel Hill so this time of year I'm on some mountain around here every weekend "competing"/ partying with our ski teams and other ski teams in our conference (OUTRAGEOUS FUN). But if I'm ever headed "out west" to our lovely hills I'd love to have a fellow lady shredder to ride with!
