Skis for a lightweight guy

Yo everyone

I know there are plenty of threads about new skis (with replies sayin BUYS VISHNU) but I would try everything to get some 2 cents from experienced people.

Surface Uppers 176cm are my only pair of skis and I use them for the

- few days of powder (max 40cm) I get in my resort (I like to drop and go big):

I love them even if maybe their soft flex is not good for charging

- 1/3 days when snowpark is good (I like jumps and not very much rails... I do them but do not trick a lot)

I like them they are smooth and lightweight but I would like to try something more narrow, easy to swing and poppy.

- 2/3 riding the mountain and maybe throwing EASY tricks off natural features and side hits.

I love them and how they are surfy, enough stable for my weight even when straight lining and charging, but find them not too much energic and poppy.

Additional info:

- I am 130Lbs x 171cm (5'7")

- I do not do park jumps over 50 feet but would like to try some maybe

SO, I would like to try something new to use mainly in the park, maybe in the slush, generally when there's no chop or some SOFT snow to give it. I like to do butters and swerve around a lot.

I would like too keep the Upper for powder / chop and then maybe replace it with a more chargy ski.

I tried the following skis:

- Surface giv'er: I like them but I would like to try another brand and I do not enjoy a lot the fact that the noses feel stiffer than the tails.

- Reckoner 102: These were more okay for what I want but didn't enjoy the way the tips became soft . Maybe 170 was too short for me and I was nearly washing out when pressing.

My main options are:

- 1000 skis park: seems hells of fun and seems they can handle also doubles and big jumps from low weight athletes. Also wouldn't mind come back to a ski with some camber.

- ON3P Mangos: no chance to try them and few to get them .... also, 90 or 100?

Any advice?

Sorry for the long post.....At least I gave you my opinion about The Uppers :)

Thanks in advance!

If you were to go for an ON3P ski I would go for the Jeffery 102/108. it's a slightly more directional shape than the mango and handles all mountain skiing a bit better.

Thanks for your reply.

Seems reasonable but jeffery seems like an all mountain tool like the uppers.... I am searching for something that has a low swing weight and is not heavier than the uppers

The brand gets a lot of hate, but faction prodigy 2s could be good too. Relatively stiff ski, so able to handle large jumps and big landings. But has the perfect amount of flex to give you an insane pop. Also super light ski with a decent under foot for good snow.

Thanks for your reply! I have looked at it but it doesn't seems to be very playful or swervy for a 60kg guy given the hard flex and traditional shape

1000s would work. Very surfy but not noodles like a Line Blend. Atomic Bent 100 or 90 are solid options as well, lots of camber so good pop just move the mount point forward. ARV 100 also maybe but I haven't tried them

There is nothing traditional with prodigy shape, they have very modern, deep rocker and early taper shape. They are on the stiffer side tho so not the easiest to bend

I know the TWP gets a lot of hate for durability here (and frankly it's not very durable indeed, but also can be found really cheap)... but my son is veeeery lightweight for his height and he enjoys the TWP a lot (started with 157cm , now getting 171 as he grew up 10 cm last year). The skis are very light, playful, but stiff enough for big jumps.

ON3P jeff 100/102 whichever you can find. I ride the 102 and it has been able to handle everything i've skied in. Very playful ski and probably will be the right amount of flex you want.

You are def right. I will try to test them.

thanks a lot to everyone that replied.

I think i'll go with the Mango 100 since I will keep the upper for all around shredding.
