Skis for a beginner

I'm just learning to ski this year and im pickin it up pretty well, and now im thinkin of buyin a pair. I plan on skiing everything: park, pow, groomers. My local shop has a pair of yellow (not sure what year) line 1260's with bindings for $350, and my friend thinks they would fit me all right. They also have a pair of 03/04 pe's for 250, but my friend says thats a ripoff. Any suggestions would be nice. Btw, I'm 5'11 150 lbs.

what size are the skis at the shop? but I would go with the PE, they are good all over the place. But thats only one mans opinion

or the 1080. i know that a lot of people hat on it but for a begginer it should fit you well. and dont get any thing shorter than a 165. the 1080 would be a good bet. dont get the 1260. its arip off. and your friend is wrong.

depend on what size those skis are, the 1260 are good for beginner since they are easy to throw around and light. the pe would be great for all the things you wanted to do with them, but it takes a little more experence to get it's full potential. since this will be your first ski, chances are you will be up gradeing within a year or two, so i would suggested the 1260 over the pe...you can get the pe once you are better. for a beginner, i would suggest to get a good beginner ski than to get a ski with a good bargin.

well if you believe that, then buy online instead of at your local shop. you can get 1260's for hundreds cheaper online. If youre gonna purchase a ski you plan on keeping for a while, then go and get yourself good new skis like 06 public enemies. If not get 1260s but you can get 04-05 ones for like 150-200

i was just at the shop fondling some 06 PE's and they are so sick, definitely a solid ski for this year

all right so most of you say get the pe's, and nothing below 165. i've been snowboarding for about 6 years and it's starting to get a little stale, so i figured i'd try skiin. I might be a potential converter.

ok i've decided to get the pe's, now i need an inexpensive, but good quality binding. More suggestions would be nice.

Talk to yout local shop about bindings. Most people are going to say to get Look P12's most likely. I would say get the 06 PE's in a 174 or 179. The 174 would be easier to handle as a beginner. My friend who is a beginner just got the 06 PE's in a 174.

me im a biginner and i took the 169 last year pe's and they handle so well, second day skiing im doing a 20 foot rail...
