Skis and Allegiant Airlines

I've been thinking about possibly using Allegiant Air to go on a ski trip next winter, but their fees kind of scare me when traveling with ski equipment. Have any of you guys flew allegiant with your skis before? My main concern is, how strict are they with the oversize fee on ski bags? Most airlines specifically exempt skis, but there is no mention of this on Allegiant's site. My skis are over 80 linear inches before they even go in a ski bag, and I don't want to have a nasty $75 surprise at the airport.

Any other random comments good or bad you have about flying on allegaint with skis would greatly be appreciated as well.

so if your skis are over 80 inches (which are 205's, dunno what you're skiing but 205's are pretty damn long planks) then you'll get the $75 fee

Yeah I read the website, but it's not industry standard at all, and often what "the book" says is not exactly how the agents apply the rules. Since they fly to Telluride, it doesn't make sense to screw every skier over with a 75 dollar fee. The 80 inches is length plus width plus depth, not longest dimension, so my 185s exceed the total size allowed or are at least very close, and I would like to jam another pair in like I always do on other airlines.

Flew with them a couple times, just like any other airline. They charged just the same as any other airline service for baggage.
