So I think most people have heard about my crash at Loon in March 2010. Anyway I shattered my whole right leg which resulted in 3 months in the hospital and 16 operations to keep it attached. So I haven't skied at all since that day.
My leg has 5 rods and 21 screws in it and has pretty extensive nerve damage. So I wear a compression sleeve on my leg to try and control swelling still, but it is still a beefy leg.
So I was praying my Full Tilts would fit, but I slip them on and I couldn't even get one cable down on the loosest setting.
I hit up Ryan at SkiRack to see if he could try his best, and if not I could buy some wider boots.
I have them on right now at Saint Mike's and they are golden, and honestly don't feel like the same boot I put on before.
Full Tilts are notorious for only fitted a certain foot type, which my right leg did not fall into.
He started by take out a piece on the top calf area to increase the amount of room I had up there to get the power strap down.
The went in under the tongue and shaved down and sanded the plastic over my shin and top of my foot. This allowed for my foot to not get closed in on and pressure when I strapped th buckles down.
Then went in and blew out the sides to maximize the amount of space I had to allow for swelling in my foot.
Last Ryan was able to get his hands on an extinct pair of new thinner Intuition liners because the Hot Dogger ones are SO thick. Finished that off with a heat mold.
Overall SkiRack killed it on making a pair of unski-able boots fit like a glove and enabling me to get back on the hill this year.
Oh yea, Ryan did all of this without even seeing my leg before working on it. I told someone else when I dropped them off the general idea of what I needed, and he blew it out of the water.
