SkiRack did some magic.

So I think most people have heard about my crash at Loon in March 2010. Anyway I shattered my whole right leg which resulted in 3 months in the hospital and 16 operations to keep it attached. So I haven't skied at all since that day.

My leg has 5 rods and 21 screws in it and has pretty extensive nerve damage. So I wear a compression sleeve on my leg to try and control swelling still, but it is still a beefy leg.

So I was praying my Full Tilts would fit, but I slip them on and I couldn't even get one cable down on the loosest setting.

I hit up Ryan at SkiRack to see if he could try his best, and if not I could buy some wider boots.

I have them on right now at Saint Mike's and they are golden, and honestly don't feel like the same boot I put on before.

Full Tilts are notorious for only fitted a certain foot type, which my right leg did not fall into.

He started by take out a piece on the top calf area to increase the amount of room I had up there to get the power strap down.

The went in under the tongue and shaved down and sanded the plastic over my shin and top of my foot. This allowed for my foot to not get closed in on and pressure when I strapped th buckles down.

Then went in and blew out the sides to maximize the amount of space I had to allow for swelling in my foot.

Last Ryan was able to get his hands on an extinct pair of new thinner Intuition liners because the Hot Dogger ones are SO thick. Finished that off with a heat mold.

Overall SkiRack killed it on making a pair of unski-able boots fit like a glove and enabling me to get back on the hill this year.

Oh yea, Ryan did all of this without even seeing my leg before working on it. I told someone else when I dropped them off the general idea of what I needed, and he blew it out of the water.

Thanks again to those guys, and see all of you at Stowe!

Rubino is the man. Always stoked on what he's doing. Happy for you matty, get back on to snow and have a fun season.

As far as full tilt boot fitters go, I absolutely cannot think of someone more skilled than Rubino (aka the Shrub). Being an ex-Skirack boot fitter myself, I might be a bit biased, but for the freeride, jib, younger generation of skiers in the burlington area, I really think Skirack is the best. They know their cliental's needs better than anyone.....and they hook it up.

that second picture... da fuck?

but thats rad that they could fix up your boots like that and get you back on the hill

3 months in the hospital! aww man thats terrible, must have been soo painful, ahh cant even think about it

thats so awesome your back out there man!

after working with Ryan for about 4 years, I can safely say he is one of the most passionate people about the sport I've ever seen and that is most certainly relayed in his work. Although I've never made it up to Burlington (yet) I've directed customers of mine in Pennsylvania to the Ski Rack and Ryan when they go on trips to VT. Keep up the good work buddy, and to Matt... great to see you getting back in action!

It's been such a long journey back for you Matty! Glad to hear your FT's are now super custom fit and your heading for the hills once again!!! WELCOME BACK!

So basically there was a wall connecting the jumps and I landed right on the top of it.

So picture Tanner's crash on Chad's, and it was a pretty similar impact.

sooo shitty that crash always scared the shit out of me, props for coming back matty!

even though I enjoy the fit of my nordica superchargers, I do believe I'll be heading to skirack when I need new boots. been there to just browse before when I was younger, had a cousin work there for a little while, and have heard so many amazing stories. seems too good to pass up.

and stoked to hear you're able to get back on the hill already mattyb. a little bit earlier than expected isn't it?
