Im getting a tattoo of a mountain range on my upper ribs, not huge but pretty sizable and I was wondering how long I should stay off snow. I go back to school in a couple weeks so I to ski as much as possible but I understand ill need some time off to let the tattoo heal. I know the artist will tell me how to take care of it but I wanted some first hand advice from some of you guys.

Thanks for serious answers

Well unless youre going to a shitty tattoo artist they will probably care about their artwork and tel you how to look after it, so probably do that, let em know you're skiing, maybe they'll have some advice?

dont do what my friend did. got a tattoo on his inner bicep. went skiing a few days later. wrapped it with plastic wrap or something. sweat all up in that shit. got a staff infection for months. dont do that.

Don't wrap it. Wear a cotton base layer if possible. Because it's more breathable, but if you're going to sweat a lot don't do that. Bring your antibacterial soap and aquaphor with you to the hill and treat it every couple hours. That might be an inconvenience, but worth it to make something that's going to last you the rest of your life look good. Also make sure you don't wear clothing that's going to be tight or rubbing against it a whole lot. I would advise taking the first 3 days after getting it off if possible, as those are the most critical days in the healing process
