Skiing vs Snowboarding report

Hey i am doing a report as part of a group project comparing and contrasting skiing and snowboarding. The main points we are covering are the injury rates, most common injuries, learning curve, cost and ability to use terrain. I am on the skiing side of the debate so if you could find links to pages with facts and statistics about the topics or information relating to them it would help me alot. Also if you have information that helps support snowboarding that would help too i could pass it on to my partner for his paper.
Thanks alot

I'm guessing most common injuries for skiing would be knees, while snowboarding might be wrists or collarbones? I think skiing is probably more expensive, unless your'e buying really top end snowboard gear. Snowboard boots and bindings can be as cheap as like $100-150 each, and you can get a decent board for $400-500, whereas in skiing, boots are like $350-700+, decent skis are going to be in the $500-$600 range, you have to buy (well, you don't have to buy) poles, and then you still have to buy bindings.

Haha the paradox of snowboarding. They create moguls where you don't want them, and destroy them where you do want them.

yea he's right, i snowboard and my friends like there goes my christmas stuff cause i just got new stuff and good skis boots bindings all together are going to be like 1,300 or more

After doing both sports, skiing is easier to learn and harder to master (as stated above) while snowboarding is harder to learn and easier to master. (In my opinion).
Most anyone can put on a pair of skis and make it down the mountain while most people that put on a snowboard for the first time sit on their butt for most of the day. Skiing with the correct technique takes a lot more time and practice than snowboarding with the right technique.
Snowboarding is by far the cheaper sport, a good pair of boots and bindings can easily be bought under $200 and a nice board can be bought for $200-$250.
Skiing is a lot more expensive, boots and bindings are $300 plus, and nice boots are up by $450, while nice skis are $600+.
Skiing injuries seem to happen mostly with knees (ligament tears) and hips (unlike snowboarding where its slightly more difficult to land on your side) and snowboarding injuries seem to be comprised of wrist, arm, and shoulder areas.
Hope this helps.

i felt the other way around. i dont remember learning skiing cause i was 3, but learning new tricks isnt that hard for me as long as im commited and have a good feature. snowboarding tho i learded in like an hour and could hit up pretty much everything on-piste and stuff but when it comes to park i can do like indy 3s and hit rails and they were really scarry. i ended up selling my board this season

i agree with most of this, except for the price of the board, generally, for a good park board your looking at like 700$ (board and bindings) and boots around 200. it is alot cheaper than skiing, and it is also harder to learn.

I guess you're right about the pricing. I for one always bought last years models when I snowboarded so a full set up for me came to $450 for extremely nice boots, bindings, and a board.

Thanks everybody its given me some good ideas for the paper. But does anyone have links to statistics for injuries so that i can have some numbers to put in. thanks again
