Skiing vs Skiing delema

So right off the bat there is no wrong decision here, both are skiing but..... I am torn between my senior year on our school's ski team or a gore season pass. Both are about the same price, but I will end up skiing more with the ski team. I'm not at all a hardcore racer, but I really like our team and I'm not really going to have an opportunity to race again ever. Then again I might be going to college in Rochester (I live north of Albany now) so I feel like this will be my last year close to big mountains to just ski with friends off of a team.

I'm so torn! Any thoughts? Suggestions? I don't have enough money/time for both, but honestly either is a win. Thank you NS

Stick with the racing one more year man. Sounds like you have a damn good time with them and if you might not have the opportunity to race again you might regret not doing it one more year. That's how I see it anyway, I stuck with it til I went off to college and it worked well for me...

I say get the pass to gore, your winters for the next 4 years in Rochester are going to be kinda harsh, Bristol is there and its a nice place and all, but it is no mountain.. I say get as much "real" mountain as you can now to suffice for the next couple years

I'm assuming asking your parents for financial help isn't an option?

I guess it really depends on what you like more. I started racing last year and it was pretty fun and all, but if I had to chose between it and my Gore pass, racing would be knocked off the list in a heart beat.

How often do you ski at places other than Maple? If you barely get to I'd personally go with the Gore pass (guessing because you're a senior you can drive now/will be able to drive yourself there?). A ton of people don't know how awesome some of the terrain at Gore is. Plus the park is moving over to Wild Air so we're hoping management will approve for getting new rails and boxes this year with the new park. Also the Gore Pass is good for Whiteface as well.

i feel like thats absurd that they wont offer you any kind of a break on a SP especially if your already paying them and the school to race there

I almost forgot I made this thread...

Anyway I'm going with the Gore pass. Up until two days ago, I was set for the ski team, until I found out that a lot of the people on it last year were not racing this year, so I would be the only senior and only guy on the team. Also, a bunch more of my friends are getting the pass and now I'm stoked. I do wish I could race again as well, but it's no loss, and I can always just poach NASTAR courses with my friends.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
