Skiing - thing of the heart or the brain

Hey gus, i have such a crisis right now and i would be happy for your advices or tips. Im normal 19yo man from the Czech Republic, Czechia - call it what you want. I will move from my home, bc of studies. First of all. I love skiing, especially ski touring/BC. However, there are no mountains (they are, but not for this type of skiing), Austria is far, same with Germany. Slovakia is good, with nice mountains and good snow conditions, but still, I cant be there more than 4 times in the winter. Yes, i will live on my own, with money from part-time jobs, but is it rational decision to buy pair of skis, skins, boots which is really expensive (and where are clothes, avalanche equipment,etc.).

So my question is. Should i listen to brain and leave skiing and find something else, or listen to my heart and buy these things, bc skiing is something that i really love? I want to know your opinions guys!

P.S. Sorry for my english if its bad.

You don't need the best equipment to ski and have fun. Find a cheap used set and make the dream where both can happen a reality. I use a set to k2's with tyrolas from the 80's for a day this year and they weren't that awful. I have definitely used worse and I was doing park. (if you try this avoid corrugated tubes the skis are too thin) But that's beside the point. The point is that Someone is probably throwing out a set that you can get by with all you have to do is find it.

I would say get the stuff because

a) you probably want to hear it

b) this is a freeskiing website

Save up and start buying things one at a time, after you knock out a couple items the setup will seem a lot more attainable.

Go for it, live life to the fullest! Opportunities for ski trips will present themselves, and you shouldn't miss out on epic days.

Your English is very good, by the way!

Life is short and you get old and die. do what you want to do, and you will always find a way! your'e 19, thats when youre supposed to be doing irrational crazy things, not being logical and doing what you think you're supposed to do. send it, just buy cheap, its so easy to get ski gear for next to nothing.

wanna ski this winter? in all honesty

Im really not sure. You know, young redneck in big city. New school, new people i have to deal with, paying rent and tons of shit like that. But sure, i want to make a time and go skiing. I wanna go for it next year. More money, time, etc., less troubles. Or I would like to use Erasmus and try exchange studies in some country. When one guy from Czech can surf in Portugal, why the f i wouldnt ski in Norway or Austria or wherever.

Alright man, im 30 min from Czech

Get cheap old things or don't update your current gear. Lived in the south for awhile (no snow), went from skiing every single weekend for 5 months to 2 or 3 times a winter. It sucks. Focus on your next step in life living closer to snow, the heart wants what the heart wants.

1) Buy touring gear.

2) Move to the Alps.

3) Get a job.

4) Ski XXXX days.

5) Go home.

6) Get a summer job.

7) Repeat 1), 2) and 3).

Ofc this would be the best way, but i also want study, because if i graduated successfully, i will have to chance to move anywhere i want, bc i will have something to offer. I want to buy gear now, go skiing once or twice in month and after studies i want to move closer to the mountain.
