Skiing SnowFlex easier?

Just watched the Project FleX video and it got me wondering, is it easier to throw down on SnowFlex than real snow?

While the skiing was super sick and awesome to watch, could those dudes do all that on a snow jump? Or is the fact that the jump is an always perfectly shaped never changing jump with perfectly predictable conditions every time making it easier to throw down big?

Somethings are easier, like you listed. Other things, like carving, and catching edges, make it more difficult. Personally I think actually skiing on snow is easier, but hitting jumps is way safer on snow flex.

Yeah like the guy above says it depends. I think generally taking off is easier an as you say more consistent. But if you need to carve off take off obviously that's not so easy. Any time you need to edge hard its not happening so if you land off center there is less chance of recovering then on snow. But when you fall generally that's much better then on snow especially ice, but you do want to make sure your akin is covered.

Overall the low friction makes throwing spins easier as you can't catch edges but that works against you when you need to hook up an edge.

if you ski it enough you would get used to the 0% chance of edge catching.

I was wondering if it hurts more or less when you fall on snowflex.

On yeah you defiantly get used to no edging but its still annoying when you need to edge to get away with a mistake. I actually much prefer setting spin on snow flex as you can be supper buttery and never worry about catching.

Injury wise like I said it hurts way less to fall but the carpet burn can suck. No worse then I e burn really though and def not as bad as demdex

The burn is like ice burn, but the snow flex its self is padded under it so when you fall you bounce back up sort of. Really weird the first few times but much nicer then snow. You still don't want to LAN on your head but if you land on your side, as long as your skin is covered it does not really hurt at all.

Oh that's pretty sick so basically just wear long sleeves and pants and your good? Or does it still give you brush burns

I always wore old ski pants and a hoody. Th water that they spray to keep it fast gets you pretty wet so that keeps you from getting too hot, well it does here in the uk any way. But yeah I would say it goes powder, snow flex, park snow, demdex it order if which hurts least to most.

Wow, I'm seriously considering saving up to go to snowflex next year since it's so much cheaper than any other camp. Sorry for off topic but has anyone here been to the camp? Did you learn a lot of new stuff there?

you literally can hit the jump twice a minute which makes it so easy to get comfortable and you're able to learn so quickly. But its not any easier. almost all of the tricks in that edit have been done on snow.

I know some people have landed wrong and broken something on snowflex, but I've never had an issue with it. Even rug burn hasn't been much of a problem. Its just so much softer to fall on than the east coast ice i'm used to

Though the jump never changes and you cant edge, snow is alot easier to throw tricks on in my opinion and hurts way less when you fall. Snowflex hurts real bad. Trust me.

i found that landing spins was harder on snowfall because you can't edge at all so i would end up just sliding out, and that also makes landing switch extremely difficult

i helped out and coached there this year. you are able to progress so much in a week its insane. there were kids learning all types of new tricks. i would highly recommend going there next summer. plus its not hardly crowded

I went to the camp session last week for the first time and it was pretty damn fun. I hadnt skied park much at all before i came and now i can ski switch, 270 off rails, 180, and 360. I learned off axis stuff on the tramp too. The coaches are some of the chillest people ive ever met, they really help you progress. Off the hill you can pretty much do whatever you want on campus. They have an indoor skatepark, pool with a sick diving board, indoor soccer, and rock wall. Overall, its a sick camp for the money and you'll learn a ton no matter how good you are. I'd seriously think about doing it next summer!

Uh, all those skiers kill it on snow, Kirk Scully for example... Lives a town next to me and he throws down even harder/just as hard on snow.

Am I the only one with snowflex experience that finds it way more painful to crash on it? I would prefer crashing on snow any day, unless it's boiler plate ice. Generally I wasn't super keen on snowflex, but since im a rail man myself, and my spot had next to no rails, maybe that was the reason. It's burned down now anyway.

hahahaha you suck at rails you dickhead and stop talking about features like "oh, I'm a Boob man myself" makes you look like well, the dickhead you are

@drew, because he is a dickhead who thinks he knows so much about everything when he's shaping the park at Scuol hahahahahha

I see you're keen on stirring up shit once again, you truly are pathetic! You should go out and do something with your life, instead of stalking me on here. You either have some sort of anger management problem, or you have a serious hard on for me, and just won't admit to yourself that you're gay. It might actually be a combination of the two. But by all means, keep at it, I just wanna see you freak out, it thoroughly amuses me.

And by the way, the stomponomics comment is getting fucking old, you should try something new.

hahahahahahahahahhhahahahahahahahahahahaahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahAre you mad because you

dont hav a phd in sterpernermics?

"A great source of amusement"I SAY, WE SHOULD HEAD OFF DOWN TO DO SOME SKIING IN THE SWISS ALPS, I SAY

WHY YES, YES WE SHOULD. I DO IN FACT HAVE A CHALET BOOKED CLOSE TO THE CITY OF CHUR

HOW DELIGHTFUL

YES, MY WIFE SHALL COOK AND MY DAUGHTERS CLEAN

*HAHAAHA*

*WINE GLASSES CHINK TOGETHER*

IT WOULD BE A GREAT SOURCE OF AMUSEMENT, OLD BEAN

Fuck off with your "superior" internet talk you twat

It's funny that you are so insecure that you read this supposed superiority into my posts. You seem to have some serious selfesteem issues, you might wanna address those. English is not my first language, but because I'm not a complete retard, I have a reasonable command of it. I'm sorry that that makes you feel inferior, because what actually makes you inferior is your mind boggling stupidity, nothing more, nothing less.

Shit guys he used caps. He means business. Get the fuck off ns if your going to be that much of a butthurt shit.

Anything that requires edge control is harder because you slide rather than grip through the sidecut. You pretty much don't need edges so you can grind them down to nothing which helps on rails. The feature shapes never change which is good for learning tricks and they don't build huge features which makes the whole set-up more progressive.

Check-out the set-up at Noeux Les Mines in France, it has two kickers a hip, a halfpipe and mutiple rails.

Snowflex is padded underneath which helps with falls but burns can be pretty bad. Outerwear dies really quickly from friction burns so keep some old gear for riding in. You'll want to wear outerwear because it needs to be pretty wet to slide quickly.

Snow flex is easier to learn stuff on at first because of the repitition you can get on the same jump and being able to ski all year but it can be difficult to then take what you have learnt to snow. Going from not being able to use edges on jumps to having to use edges and being able to carve on take off can fuck with how you do certain things

i live 5 mins from snowflex and i learn something new every day. like yesterday i learned sw. 2 on pretz 2 out. and i was riding by myself. you dont need to go during the camp but the camps make it more fun.

No. Its not easier. Those kids just fucking slay.

Id go ahead and say that if they kill it on Snowflex then they kill it harder on snow.

just got back from snowflex VA. I wouldnt say its harder, but its definitely soething you have to adjust to. took me like 6-8 runs to adjust to it then it feels the same as snow, where you dont have to think about it. But the shits crazy, totally different than snow but totally adjustable in a short period of time.

I just rode SnowFlex last week and in my opinion it is way safer because i took falls straight to my back and it feels like you hit a foam-pit and then you just slide down to the bottom of the slope. But, when your just riding on the actual SnowFlex you kind of just glide on top of it, you don't really carve like you would on snow.

I think there is a small advantage with SnowFlex since the jump is the same every day you hit it, you get super comfortable and always know how much air time you'll have and how hard to throw your tricks.

Other than that though, I imagine falling is waaaaaay worse than snow.
