GOD Damned Time/Warner. It really was true, they just wanted Freeze to kill it. Those motherfuckers have no clue, they just think one ski magazine NOT directed toward foot-in-the-grave skiers is enough. i'm telling you this now, next year if skiing tries to bring back the Open FUCK THEM!!! That's freeze's event, not the event for these douche bag's in boulder who think they're 'core.' man, screw this

meh. its still not going to be pitched to our demographic. the Open will go on, sponsors will come up with money, its one of the biggest events in all of skiing, someone will want their name on it.

the only thing their facelift has that might be trying to relate to the younger end of their demograhpic is Seth giving ski tips. Its definetely not replacing Freeze or anything.

West is Best.

As much as i hate to say this, the Open isn't one of the biggest events in skiing. It's only getting coverage from a major network this year and it's being aired almost a month after

dont forget, the open isnt about jibbing. skiercross is a huge part too, and it draws a ton of sponsors.

I don't condone this.

Is this why I got an issue of Skiing Mag today in the mail, after never getting one issue of Freeze after paying for the subscription.

WSI is a big event. Does it get coverage? No. Orage Masters is a big event. Does it get coverage? No. Be thankful the Open gets any coverage, and at least its on a major network, not some random bullshit channel that airs Japanese ass holes destroying themselves to be on television and James Bond movies every day.

no s in douche bag, and althogh what freeze did for skiing by being a true core magazine dedicated to skiing is awesome, the magizine itslef, besides the ads and an occasional article was pretty bad. I always read and bougth freeze but it wasnt that great, hopefully a new and sicker magazine will come up in its place

you can think freeze was crap but i bet you still bought it. any way look atthe demographic 25 to 38 or what ever they said. thats not most of us here on ns. but honestly i dont care any more ns is better then any ski mag past or present.(for ski info that is)

i loved freeze, sick pictures, interviews, and 7th grade humor made the perfect mag for me

oh yeah? well me and my friends have been bathing off the southern coast of st. bards, chilling with spider monkeys. tripping on acid gave us a whole new perspective on shit.

Pipe munky you've been pissing me off lately.

Freeze was THE shit, as opposed to just shit. Do you guys even understand what role Freeze played in getting this sport to where it is today?

When skiing was gay (I know, it's arguable that it still is...), Freeze went out and put Seth Morrison on the cover. Freeze ran shots of McConkey's first AK straightline on, gasp, fat skis. Freeze put one of the New Canadian Airforce guys(McDonnell I think), on the cover, and then gave them a huge article. Freeze was the first ski magazine to run a railslide shot as their cover. When no one else gave a shit about the US Open, Freeze did. Thanks in part of Freeze, skiing is in the X Games.

Yeah, Freeze really was shit. Fucker.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

Nuthin can replace freze just try to imitate but i feel that the Open is a pretty big event for our sport! It just is sweet to see up and comers knocking skis with the big guns

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

about that WSI comment, yeah it actually does draw huge media attention. they made a series on it with various 30 minute episodes about skiing, or snowboarding, or filmmaking, etc. ive seen many other shows like rideguide and pontiac world of skiing cover the event well. it is huuge.

and freeze was dope. no need to hate on it, and im just now beginning to miss it.

i'm not debating whether or not FREEZE was a good publication cause I'm sitting on the fence here (it did suck editorially (if that's even a word) but it still gave a lot of exposure and credibility to what we're doing.) I've heard it from other people and shit, just today i heard it from a guy who used to edit Ski Magazine. Freeze just didn't make sense to some goddamned bean counter in Time Inc. NYC office...
