Skiing park without twin tips

I just got new skis last year and as soon as i got them i discovered park skiing and loved it. I can do some shitty stuff just like 180s 3s and slide boxes rails and some downsloped rails but I don;t go huge off kickers and stuff. Are twin tips really necesary?

depends on how serious you are and what your doing. if you wana ever learn to land switch and do stuff well then id get twins

not necessary at all, you'll just struggle skiing backwards, but you can still have a ton of fun park skiing forward

if you want to progress and start becoming more comfortable with switch and switch landings than yes. and also, you jsut look out of place with out them

Get twin tips. They are so numerous and you can find a pretty decent pair, new or used, CHEAP.

I started off skiing park years ago on bloody, stiff-as-fuck directional atomics. While I was able to learn a lot, switch shit, rails, etc, the skis were a barrier to my park enjoyment and growth. There were times that I snagged those tails and fuck it doesn't take much for that to hurt a lot. Also, directional skis, by their constrcution and mounting pioint, will react differenlly to the snow and your body, negatively forcing you to do more with your body that wouldn't even be necessary with a well mounted pair of twin tips.

.Wanna ride park? Get twin tips

Wanna ride pow? Get fat twin tips

Wanna ride groomed? Get twin tips

Want a friend? Buy a dog.

For everything else, there's twin tips.

Just kidding. Seriously, twin tips would help a lot with landing and riding switch. Also you'll pop higher because of the flex a twin tip can provide. What's definetly sure: I'll never regret having twin tips.

well you don't really need them, i mean you can still ski some park, but you should get some park specific skis.... but don't be like half the kids here who just buy all the newest gear purely for image, and say things like "you'll look out of place"

i shredded park on slalom skis one day.

landing and taking off backards on jumps was no big.

i could see it bein gsketchy if there is fresh snow or melty snow.

twin tips are for pussys real men ride tail tipped skis. you aint pro till you can do everything switch thats why i think twtin tips are to tempting to ride forward on. try a ski with only tails and see how fast your switch skills improve. just be careful getting on and off the lift.

let me just say this. i respect a kid throwing down in the park with non-twins more than a kid who can barely ski with them

If you are doing 180's the landing would have to be boiler plate for you to consistently get by without a twin tip. Either only land forward or invest in a new ski. Its not about image... Its about safety

like i know im not very good because I can only do a few rails and boxes but not just the slide on ones or flat bars and only 180s and 360s withnot a stomped landing but ive seen people with the best twins that r much worse. Obviosuly image is not as improtant as your riding abiliy but I don't look like a complete tool like i do have slighty baggy pants jacket, i know im not that good but i will definitely get twins in the next little while.

if park is what you want to do then its a wise investment.

More than anything your twins will last in the park, I broke my racing skis quickly when i first started doing rails and jumps.

hahaha good call.

But seriously someone said it before, now that twin tippers have been around for awhile you can most definitely get them for cheap.

When you do look in to buying some NS can also help you there.

I know I could get some for cheap off this site but I just don't wana get screwed over with the quality saying it is good and then being halfway shot when I get them

You'll probably get laughed at but fuck haters. I think you should get some because they will help with landing switch.

lol my buddies used to bust 720s and shit on their race skis for shits n giggles between races...
skiing park without twins is possible but definitely not worth it
even some beat to death twin tips will be a worthy investment

you can pick up last year's model twins - even relatively decent ones - online for less than 300. Not a lot of money for the amount of fun you'll get out of them

I just got new skis last year not knowing i was going to start park but if I can get a pair from this site with bindings for less than 200 il try but my parents won't be wanting me to buy cuz they bought me new skis last year

it would be hillarious if you look like a gaper and go into the park and throw down infront of some shitty gangster kids, and show them up

buy twin tips hand have the bindings center mounted this will help with ur rotations and also doing rails messes up ur regular skis more than if u did it with twin tips cuz they are designed for park

i look like anyone else in the park except the kids that think there black meaning like how they talk and shit

I skied race skis in the park for 1 1/2 years before picking up twins. I just had to skip 540s after learning 360s, and go right to 7's. Once i did get on twins, i noticed much more pop, and just a better more natural flex. So, if your in park skiing for the longhaul, or even if you ski park some of the time, sell your current skis and buy some twins. You'll still be able to shred all mountain.

for smaller kickers and non tech rails i'd say you're okay. but landing switch off large kickers twin tips are definitely necessary as well as the more tech rails. the edges on twin tips are most likely reinforced...unlike racing and normal skis

a couple of years ago, one of my friends had the head monsters (so a semi-twin tip) and ripped, although I'm not sure how much he landed switch. but the next year he got some real twins. so it is possible to do a lot in the park without them, but it will be a lot more fun with them.

ya my skis arent race skis but I can hopefully talk my parents into letting me by some when they see mine taking shit from rails and boxes
