Looking at going to college at UC Santa Cruz and I was wondering how close the nearest ski area is. Thanks

Surf the OC?

Oregon Coast of course!

hahahahah. santa cruz is by the ocean bro! probably big bear or mountain high is the closest. at least three hours to mountain high, and 4 to big bear. 7 to mammoth?

i know that it is on the ocean, just wondering how far it was to the mountains

okay i thought santa cruz was in a different place. i mapquested it for you.

7 hours to big bear

6 hours to mammoth

5 hours to lake tahoe

damn man, you are in a bad spot. sorry to hear that.

that sucks, i guess i could either:

1. learn to fly

2. stop skiing

3. go to another college

dude, just go to davis, better education and you cut four hours off your commute to tahoe.

Also, not sure about Davis being a better education. The school is almost twice as big as Santa Cruz but the average SAT scores are higher than at Davis

damn, I exagerate to make a point and save typing time and get nothing but flak...I'M SOOO SORRY! DAVIS IS EXACTLY AN HOUR AND FOURTY SEVEN MINUTES AND SEVENTEEN SECONDS AWAY FROM THE BORDER BETWEEN TRUCKEE AND TAHOE CITY. I hope you will all find it in your hearts to forgive me...the main point was you're saving over three hours and more than that if you stop for food and gas which you probably will each way by leaving from davis instead of Santa Cruz each morning, and ontop of that you don't have to hang out with smelly tofu eating tree humping hippies all day. Aite, i'm out.

davis and sc are both great schools, with davis having a little more name recognition and being in the top 10 public schools in us news and world report and all those other rankings, which are stupid anyways. visit both schools and see which one fits, but davis is a hell of a lot closer to skiing than sc. and it will be harder to get into davis than sc . . . need ~4.0 and 1300 it seems these days to get in; davis gets the people who couldn't get into LA and berkeley, sc gets the people who couldn't get into davis, sb etc. all great schools though

i live in SC.

the closest mnts are Dodge Ridge (3.5-4 hrs), and bear valley (same). then its Boreal (dont bother stopping by) and the rest of tahoe at a respectable 6 hrs from here.

but as a trade off, we have waves!

but fuck UCSC maggots. you dont want to be one of them. the localism down here is intense, esp if youre a 'surfer' or a trustafarian or basically are an upright living breathing human being.

SC is a great town, i love it here. but respect is the key word to the West Siders. hope you do OK if you come here. all i know is i am so ampped to go to college out of this town. SC is one of those places th at will grab onto you and never let you go til youre sitting on a curb with nothing but the dreds in your hair and the duct-tape ding-repair board behind you.

but it really is a cool town. i'll miss it alot.

guy at SkiShop SC to me: "Why is there sand in your bindings?"

"If you're alive, I probably hate you."
