Skiing in May- help a brother out

Long story short: girlfriend and I broke up, long distance relationship, had a plane ticket I need to re route somewhere else

What place still has snow for mid-late May? I'm not huge into park but would go for that and for a place with a good nightlife?

+k for the help

I don't know about the west coast, but it's looking like your choice for May on the east coast would be Killington. And it'll probably be one trail, maybe a couple more

Snowbird is going to be open through May 26th. Mount Hood will still be open. There are three ski areas on Mount Hood, not sure if they will all be open, but at least one of them will be.

Killington is going to be open until June 1st or so however it will literally be a 1000 stair hike to ski down a couple hundred feet. They have rails in until next weekend then they're taking them all out.

Summit County (particularly A-Basin) will have snow well into may this season. Not sure about the night life though. Maybe others can fill you in on that.

Beartooth Summer Session is the first week of June!

Snowbird is your best lift access bet, though at that time they will likely only be open on weekends. There's no park, though a few jumps are always around.

If you aren't seeking chairlifts your options are much healthier to ski in May. It will still be prime time skiing up high in the Tetons and 14ers around Colorado. But… achieving that sort of mission requires the right gear, partners, knowledge, and ambition.

Timberline will be open, the other two will be closed. basically park only though, the groomers will be shit

Unless you hike. I was there in July of 2012. I hiked way past the top of the Palmer lift. I stopped when I got to crevasses and sulphur vents and it seemed unsafe to continue alone without mountaineering gear or training. It was awesome.

A Basin will be the only resort open mid-may. Keystone is closed, Breck closes this weekend, Coppers last weekend is this weekend, Loveland closes May 3rd. And the nightlife will be pretty dead except for locals mostly. May is mud season in Summit County. Most people go on a vacation or take sometime away form snow and Summit County.

they have stairs on superstar this year?

europe? stubai is open until the beginning of july with a full park, zermatt will still be open. There's others too. I'm going riding this coming weekend and again probably a couple times in may/june

Sugarloaf. They will have park and bump runs with some sketch riding in the trees. Nightlife is going to be more of a parking lot chill vibe. Most likely not going to partying super hard.

Sunshine, in Alberta is the place to be in May. Whole mountain is still wide open, I was there on the weekend, and it looks like it will be for a long time. Night life will be good, Banff is the nearby town. All of Canada flocks to either Sunshine or Whistler in May.

Can always hit up Blackhawk/Commerce City for a night out though too and it's not too far from Summit.

Abasin definitely will have sick skiing in May, and the back country will be prime if you're into that kind of thing.

Nah it's the stairs under the Gondola on the main face (idk what its called). I've never done it but my buddies have and a ski patroller was explaining it to me. Essentially you hike the entire mountain and hike for all your runs. That wont happen until late May into June though.

they do that early season, you have to hike down from the gondola then hike back up to download the gondola, kinda sucks but its skiing in october hahah. late season is always top to bottom on superstar though

beartooth in montana! on3p has a big weekend there every year! dont know if it has already been mentioned though..

For a more laid back trip you could go to Sunshine and stay in Banff for the nightlife. Super fun in the spring, skiing is really awesome and the park is mad vibes.

Yes, the Beartooths are going off this year. We are holding the Beartooth Summer Session from June 5-8. The highway is supposed to open in late May, I would go ski it then. Right now they are holding about 150% of normal snowpack. The Beartooths will be skiable well into the summer.

You can ski more than park in late May on Hood. Ride Palmer and go take a canyon lap, just take some common sense with you (dont ski off or into something blind) and go shred.

Also, Sunshine is real dope. I have been there in the winter but I can only assume the spring skiing is great. Banff is a really fun town too.
